Hi I'm Rich

I'm a fly-fisher, a BYU fan, and a dad and and corporate tax director.

About Me

I enjoy doing things with my family. We love to go boating where we fish and ski. We also enjoy just being out on the water away from phones and tv. I really enjoy being in the outdoors and like to fly-fish with my daughter. We fly-fish for both trout and warmwater species. We especially loved catching sandies in Texas. I also enjoy playing tennis. I am also an avid sports fan and enjoy college football and major league baseball. In the winter time, I like to do woodworking, which I learned to do in college. I have made a number of pieces of furniture for my wife in our home as well as both our parents. My wife and I have now been married for over 25 years and we are committed to another 25 years. We love each other and want to be together forever. We have two daugthers that we love to enjoy activities with and hope that each will someday find a young man that they will want to be with forever as well.

Why I am a Mormon

When I look at all the wonders of Nature, I can't deny the existence of a Supreme Being (God) who loves us enough to provide all these incredible things. Its not just a coincidence that the earth and all the wonderous things in it were created for our benefit. I don't understand how these things were done, but I believe that God follows the laws he has given us and someday we will understand the mysteries that mankind tries to explain through theories. I do know that he loves each one of us because we lived with him before we came to this earth as his spirit children. We wanted to come to earth to learn and grow and one day return to live with him forever. He sent Jesus Christ to atone for our sins and provide a way that we can return and be cleansed from our sins. We must accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and keep his commandments in order for the Atonement to have effect in our lives. Jesus Christ performed many miracles for the people because of their faith. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that the Church which was originally organized by Christ, was taken from the earth and restored in modern times through the Prophet Joseph Smith. These miracles come about by faith and priesthood authority. This authority gives men the power of God to act in his name. This priesthood was given to Joseph Smith. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet because of his works, namely the Book of Mormon. I have been convinced by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is a true and correct book that testifies of the divinity of Jesus Christ and that God loves all of us not just certain groups of people. That is why he has given us a living Prophet to lead us and guide us in these troubled times. The Bible is a witness of Jesus Christ, but it does not tell us how we should handle some of the complex issues we face today. A living prophet who speaks with God, tells us what we should do and when we should do it.

How I live my faith

I try to lead my family to make good choices and to serve others in need. In my church, I often get the opportunity to teach others which continues to strengthen my beliefs. I also have occasion to visit with others and strengthen them through the discussion of the Lord's teachings. I enjoy working on service projects that help the community and have had several opportunities to help at the local food bank and other community projects as part of Eagle projects. One of my other responsibilities that I enjoy is working with a local scout troop as the Scout Committe Chairman. In carrying out this responsibility I get to conduct board of reviews with the young men and other adults. This is a very uplifting experience to hear the young men talk about things that impact their lives for good. How they live the Scout Oath and Law on a daily basis and watching them grow in character to become valiant young men is a very life changing experience.
