Hi I'm Shannon

I believe that through the gospel of Jesus Christ, families can be together forever.

About Me

I grew up in Portland, Oregon before moving to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. I've been married for five years to my best friend Justin. We just bought our first house and adopted an orange kitten named Leopold. I work full-time as a clerk but my real passion is interior design. In college, I studied abroad in Mexico and Spain and I love the Spanish language and culture. I enjoy decorating, being outdoors, spending time with family, cooking, eating (especially chocolate & peanut butter!), watching movies, and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

It has always felt natural to me to believe that there is a God in heaven and that He loves me. My family didn't go to church very often while I was growing up, but even at a young age I knew in my heart that I was a child of God. Now that I have a family of my own, I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through prayer, I have received a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel; that I have a purpose on earth, that there is life after death, and that I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I love that my religion focuses on the importance of families. It seems like traditional family values are being attacked from every angle, but Mormons believe that the family is "central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children" and that "successful marriages and families are established on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities" (The Family: A Proclamation to the World, 1995). I am a youth leader in my local congregation and one of my responsibilities is to teach young women about the importance of living a virtuous life.
