Hi I'm Dean Dilworth

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Oregon and served almost 21 years in the U.S.Air Force. I program computers for a living.

About Me

I retired from the Air Force as a captain and now work as a mainframe computer programmer/analyst for one of our state's largest banks. I have two daughters, a son and two grandsons. My son has Down Syndrome and is 16 years old. He is fairly high functioning and loves participating in Special Olympics, especially in basketball. My favorite participation sports are fishing and bowling. I love watching college football and basketball, but the only professional sport I watch very often is Colorado Rockies baseball. In high school and college, I played trumpet in the concert, marching and pep bands. In college I sang in the BYU Male Chorus and was a cast member for the opera "Carmen". I also was on the BYU International Ballroom Dance team and enjoyed teaching in a social dance class.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents that were members of the Mormon church, but we were not active in the faith until I was in my teen years. At that time, my father had a very serious heart attack which the doctor didn't believe he would live through. He was given a Priesthood blessing and had a miraculous recovery. We believe strongly that the healing was from God through the power of the Priesthood. From that time to present each of my family and I have been active in the church and strong in our faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I chose to serve a full-time mission for the church when I was 19 years old, and served for two years in the Central British Mission. Though I missed my family and the fun of college life during those two years, it was one of the most rewarding and fulfilling times of my life. I currently have a daughter serving a mission for the church in the state of Washington and am thrilled that she is able to have the wonderful experiences like I did in serving the Lord full time for an extended period of time. I have felt the guidance and influence of the Holy Ghost many times in my life and have come to feel with great assurity that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is, in fact, the Lord's Kingdom and the only true and living church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the Financial Clerk for my Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I monitor the Stake's funds and write checks to pay our bills. I also travel throughout our stake to train local unit financial clerks in their duties and assist them with their questions and problems. Some of our units are up to a two hour drive from our Stake Center. During my approximately 50 years of service in the church here in the United States and abroad while I was on active duty with the Air Force, I have served in numerous different positions. These include full-time missionary, scout master, Sunday School teacher, Stake mission leader, counsellor in the Bishopric, High Counsellor, high priest group leader, single adult representative, and many others.
