Hi I'm Ben

My wife calls me a renaissance man because I'm always willing to try something new.

About Me

I'm an engineer and scientist and conduct research at a university. I have three kids and a lovely wife to whom I devote my time and energy when I'm not in the laboratory. My life's work is to develop medically-related technologies and systems that will enhance the physical well being of my fellow man.

Why I am a Mormon

The Mormons in our city are an open society whose primary goal is the well-being of their fellow man. They seem to have a unique road map for happiness. I've lived my life based on that map and have to say it's been wonderful thus far. It'd be hard to imagine life any other way.

How I live my faith

My country and community have given me a lot. One way I give back is through my church. I do consider my scientific research one way to give back to my community, however all the work I do for my profession is rewarded by recognition through publications and monetary incentives. So in a way, my work is a zero-sum effort. It's through my faith that I feel I can really give of myself. For example, on Sundays I teach a group of 15 men similar to me in age. Some of them face difficult challenges either because of health, employment, or family problems. We visit each other during the week and it's gratifying to be able to lift someone up and help them out.
