Hi I'm Michael

I play basketball. I jam with my friends. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I can remember I've loved to play basketball. It is my favorite thing to do. I watch it, I play it, and I learn about it as much as I can. I'm a junior in college, but I still haven't decided my major, and this next college I go to will be my third in three years. I was born in Illinois and lived there for seven years, and then my family moved to Colorado. I ran cross country and track and I played basketball all four years of high school. I have two brothers and two sisters. I'm the second oldest and my older brother is married. This last year at school my friends and I got really into rock climbing. If we weren't working or in class and we had daylight, we were on the walls. Music is a huge part of my life. I love everything, but I especially love acoustic stuff and songs with meaningful lyrics that I can connect to. I play acoustic guitar and I took piano lessons for 9 years. I love listening to music and hearing a song and having it turn my day around for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. I've been able to see a great change in me and my life and also in the lives of those around me. I've been on both sides. I was born and raised in the church. My whole family is Mormon. Parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I lived for about a year without the church very strong in my life. I was in college, living on my own for the first time and I kinda fell away. Looking back now it was the most unhappy I have ever been. I felt lost, and confused. However I turned all that around. I applied the atonement of Jesus Christ to my life and I have never been happier. I have witnessed first hand what the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do in the lives of anyone and everyone, and that is happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

I am serving a 2 year mission in Oregon. As a missionary I get to center my life after the savior's and follow his perfect example. I get to teach people about God's love for us, I get to serve everyone around me, and best of all I get to teach people every day about our Savior Jesus Christ. I live my faith by being obedient to the commandments that God has given us. I've learned that obedience to commandments bring safety and happiness.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve missions, although all male members are strongly urged to serve. Guys are eligible to serve when they turn 19 and usually serve for two years and girls are eligible to serve when they are 21 and usually serve for 18 months. Show more Show less
