Hi I'm Melinda

I am happily married, with 3 kids. I work full-time and strive for balance between family, work, and church. I'm a mormon.

About Me

My life revolves around my family. We work hard and play even harder. I work as a Marketing and Operations Manager for a financial firm in the Denver area. I am lucky that my boss allows me a flexible work schedule so that I am always there for my family when I am needed. My husband and I have been married for almost 15 years and we have a teenage daughter and two sons. As a family we love to go boating, hiking in the mountains, and camping in our 5th wheel. You could say we live for summer! Some of my hobbies include biking, running, baking and eating, traveling (especially cruises), and hosting dinner parties and other events. I grew up in South Carolina and am the only one in my family that has moved away. We have moved 10 times since we were married. We have been blessed each time we have moved with a wonderful church family that has welcomed us warmly to each area. We have been in the Denver area for 5.5 years and hope to stay forever.

Why I am a Mormon

While I grew up a member of the church and always knew it was true, I have stayed faithful because of my testimony of the Book of Mormon. I first read it in high school, however in college I took the challenge to read it in about 6 weeks, praying intently, and for the first time felt a strong witness that the Book of Mormon was absolutely true. No matter what challenges have come in my life I would never deny that witness I received both in college and each time I have read it. My testimony of the Book of Mormon is central to my testimony of the Church. If the Book of Mormon is true then Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, Christ's church was restored to the earth, and we have a living prophet today that receives revelation from God. I love all of the scriptures, including the Bible. Reading the words of God brings peace into my life and brings a sweet spirit into my heart and home. I also am thankful for prayer and the ability I have to communicate with my Heavenly Father. My testimony of Christ has been strengthened through prayer and through receiving answers to prayers or through just feeling a spirit of love and peace when I call upon Him in my times of need. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is an anchor to who I am and why I am here.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to serve where needed. In the past year I helped out with the 8 year old boy scouts, taught a Sunday lesson once a month to the women 18 years and older, and worked with my husband as a food chairman for our area Youth Conference. Recently I was asked to help teach a class of fun 4-year olds each Sunday. I also enjoy finding ways to serve my friends and neighbors. Right now I am working with a group of women at church to make care packages for 100 plus soldiers serving in Afghanistan.

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely. My personal relationship with the Savior, Jesus Christ, is the most important aspect of my testimony of the Church. Everything I do at church is focused on bringing me and my family closer to Christ. I love my Savior. I am eternally grateful for his atoning sacrifice. I am thankful for the Bible and the Book of Mormon that both preach and teach of Him and help me to stay on a path that will lead me back Home to Him one day. Show more Show less
