Hi I'm David "Brent" Jewkes

I am a retired insurance company operations manager, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am retired and have been married for nearly 45 years. My wife and I are the parents of two grown children who have provided us with three wonderful teenage grandchildren. I enjoy serving in my church, date day with my wife, scrapbooking my photography, puttering around in my shop, watching sports, playing golf and fishing. My hobby is family history. I have written several short books or documentaries about our ancestors, some of whom were Mormon Pioneers and others who were early Americans that were among the first settlers of New England

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born and raised by Mormon parents, I still had to gain my own testimony through study and prayer. As a result, the Spirit of the Holy Ghost has revealed to me that its doctrine and principles not only teach me Christ-like behavior, but it helps me to know who I am in relation to our Heavenly Father and how I can obtain eternal happiness through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

To me, being a Mormon is a way of life. It’s not something that is just a Sunday thing. I live my faith by trying to stay in tune with my Father in Heaven on a daily basis through personal study and prayer and through my thoughts and actions. I pray each day that I might live a Christ-like life; to be a kind and good person to my family, friends and people of the world. I strive to stay active in church activities and to diligently accept church callings. I have served in many ward and stake callings throughout my life. This has included serving full-time and stake missions, working in ward and stake auxiliaries, serving as a temple worker, and serving as a ward bishop. Currently I am serving as a home teacher and as a priesthood quorum leader. I look forward to the day when the recently announced Fort Collins Temple will be completed and dedicated, so I can again serve as a temple worker. While I am far from being perfect in living a Christ-like life in all aspects, I try to live my faith on a daily basis so that I can be worthy of being called a true disciple of Christ.
