Hi I'm Rachel

I'm an ordinary girl that enjoys star gazing, learning Chinese, and playing sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student studying Mandarin, Chinese and Public Health. My love for the Chinese culture started once I got a calling to serve the people of Hong Kong for a year and a half. I enjoy just about anything outdoors, including sports, camping, star gazing, and catching fireflies. I have a deep passion for music and believe that it is a gift God has given us to find peace and joy in this life. If you don't hear me singing, you will probably hear me laughing. I have 4 siblings and 6 nieces and nephews. Some of my most cherished moments are spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up being a Mormon because of my parents, I had to find my own testimony. My family has always been the most influential people in my life and I saw how, despite their trials and weaknesses, the gospel blessed their lives tremendously. When I was 14 years old, my sister left for Rome, Italy to serve a mission for our church. She sent me a package and in it was a journal where she wrote her testimony to me. She then invited me to seek to find my own testimony by reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know that it was true. I followed this counsel and I had a very special experience where I felt a strong spirit come over my whole body as I sincerely prayed to know the truth. Since then, I have had several testimony building experiences that have solidified my testimony that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who was called by God to restore the fullness of his Gospel back to the Earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of our Savior and as we read it, we can truly understand his love for us. With this knowledge, I know that I am never forgotten, I know I am never lost, and I know it's never too late to change. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently on the ward service and missionary committee. I have the wonderful opportunity to help organize service activities such as cleaning the cemetery or visiting retirement homes, and I also have the privilege of teaching people more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is extremely fulfilling.
