Hi I'm Miles

I claim both coasts as home. I enjoy sports and nature. I'm learning to love the heat for 2 years, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Miles and I'm currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tempe, Arizona. I've grown up in California and Virginia, but nothing could have prepared me for this heat. I put going to school at Brigham Young University on hold for 2 years and when I return I plan on learning Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies. I come from a family of 6, and I share the middle with my brother, in between an older sister and little brother. I'm a bit of a nerd and wish there was a use for a knowledge of random facts, but have yet to find one. I love to travel, see and try new things, and make memories. I've tried all sorts of instruments and sports but none really stuck so I just enjoy doing a little of everything. I enjoy nature, traveling, and the great outdoors, but I especially love my family and what they mean to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I'm a convert to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to two good parents who did their best to raise all of us kids with a knowledge of and love for Christ. I'm not sure when I would say that I became truly converted, but throughout my life I have had many experiences and answers that have helped me to feel the truthfulness of the message I now share everyday as a missionary. I have found the reason that I continue to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, though not always popular, is because it just makes me happy. I wouldn't live it and believe it if it didn't make me happy. Everyone has their own challenges, that's the purpose of life, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ helps us to better understand why we go through what we do and how to make the best of it. Being a "Mormon" isn't just belonging to a church; being "Mormon" is choosing to live a lifestyle of being disciple of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith is one thing that continues to change and evolve as I grow in my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have found that the best way to live my faith is just living the life of a true Christian. It's a work in progress, but I feel like one thing that I can do to help others is to try to lift others who maybe are a little down. Especially as a missionary it's a great feeling to serve others and devote 2 years of my life doing things that I believe that Christ would have me do. We all have hard times and problems, but when we truly try to live our faith and follow Christ's commandment to "feed my sheep" is when modern-day miracles are found.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

I love my Bible and I love my Book of Mormon and to many that seems to almost to be contradictory. Many believe you have to pick one or the other, but to me I have no problem picking both. The Bible and Book of Mormon are different books because they come from two different continents of the world, but both contain the word of God to His children. Just like my brother and I are different though coming from the same Mother and Father, so are the Bible and Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
