Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Husband and a Father, I'm a Pediatric Dentist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Wyoming. I love the outdoors and all it has to offer. I'm a bit of a thrill seeker and I love to have fun! I love experiencing life and trying new things. I'm pretty competitive and I love to play sports. My latest passions have been snowboarding and rock climbing. I'm working my way through dental school right now with my beautiful wife. We have been married for just over a year and enjoy every bit of being married! She has made me so much better than I ever could have hoped for. I love being involved in the community and I try to leave everyone and everything better than how I found it.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born and raised LDS, I had to find out for myself if the church was true. When I went away to college after high school, I suddenly didn't have the support group that I had always had. No one was there to wake me up to go to church, no one was looking over my shoulder to make sure I did all the things that I had been taught. I now had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted. I choose to continue with the practices that my parents had always encouraged to do such as reading from the scriptures, praying daily, and attending church. It was amazing that as I choose to do these things because I wanted to, things became so much more real to me. It was no longer, 'the church is true because my parents said it was.' It was now, 'the church is true because I found out for myself'. It really as John wrote in the Bible, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine." It was just as simple as that. If you do it, you'll know! I found that as I choose to live the gospel of Jesus Christ for myself, my life was enriched! As I obeyed the commandments, because I wanted to, I came to know that Heavenly Father knows us personally, that Jesus Christ gives us power to over come sin, and that God speaks to man today. Why am I a Mormon? Because it is the absolute best way to get the most out of what life has to offer! It brings more joy, more peace, and more happiness than of anything else I know or have even heard of! I attribute everything good that I have done in my life to the teachings and example of Christ and his gospel. I know that through his power I will be with my beautiful wife and our children forever. I know that those relationships will not only be until death do we part, but for time and all eternity. The gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of his church are helping me become the man that I want to become, the man my wife and children deserve, and the man that God wants me to be.

How I live my faith

My wife and I try to be as active as we can in our local ward that we attend. I have been asked to serve as the Young Men's President. My responsibility is to help all of the young men in our ward ages 12-18. We plan activities that encourage service, brotherhood, fun, and living a Christ centered life. It has been a great experience working with these young men, and I have grown to care about each one very much! My wife is involved with the Young Women of the ward. We have loved working with the youth! My wife and I have also been asked to volunteer working in the temple. We were thrilled for the opportunity to do so. Several times a month we are responsible for coordinating the baptism sessions that take place in the temple. Just as Paul spoke to the Corinthians about baptizing for the dead, that same incredible truth has been restored in our day. As Christ said, " Except a man be born of water, and of the spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Youth from around the area come to the temple to be baptized for their ancestors that never had the opportunity while they were alive. We have loved the feeling that we get serving in the temple! We also love seeing the youth get so excited about the temple and the great work that they are doing, especially the ones that come for the very first time! We also volunteer in our local community for various organizations. We enjoy the chance to help others using the gifts that Heavenly Father has given us. We feel a responsibility to try and help others around us, because our lives have been so richly blessed by others who have followed the example of Jesus Christ.
