Hi I'm Brenda

I am a wife, a mother of 3 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I am fortunate enough to stay home with my 3 young children, while my husband is in his 3rd year of a pediatric residency. Some days are hard, but those little moments when my kids say something funny or give me an enormous hug and tell me they love me, make it all worth it. I love cooking and baking, finding new recipes and creating my own. Good thing I enjoy working out :) I would be a life-long student if it weren't for all the tests. I am willing try most things, within reason, at least once. One day I hope to be able to travel the world. I am fascinated by other cultures and seeing different perspectives on life. I feel like we can all learn from one another and the different experiences we each have.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but have become truly converted through my own experiences. I have come to understand the love that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for me individually. Each struggle has helped me develop a testimony of how the atonement not only works for my sins, but eases my pain and sorrow as well. The atonement of Jesus Christ gives us strength and power to do things we may not be able to do alone. One of the greatest blessings of being a Mormon is that through the priesthood, I am sealed for time and eternity in the temple to my husband and children. I know that the priesthood is the power to act in God's name and that power is real. I love going to the temple; it is one of my favorite places to be. I always have a renewed outlook on life and charge to be better. I also love having friends with the same beliefs and values, no matter where we live. I always have a built in support system wherever we go. I also know that God has given us a prophet today to lead and guide his church when there is so much confusion. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His son Jesus Christ and restored the gospel to the earth. I love the Book of Mormon and the hope and peace it gives me. I know that by reading it, we will become closer to Heavenly Father and understand the love he has for us. The Book of Mormon gives us clarity of what His plan for us is and how we can return to live with Him again. I know that Heavenly Father wants us to be happy and has given us all the tools we need to accomplish what we have been sent to Earth to do.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a way of life, not just a religious institution I go to on Sundays. It affects my everyday decisions and shapes who I am. Being a Mormon also offers me service opportunities within the community. This is a service oriented church, encouraging us to be like our Savior and helping others. We are assigned two or three women in the church that we go visit and share a spiritual message with each month. This not only lifts them up, but also offers them a friend. At church, I also get to work with the youth ages 12-18 and I love it. They are such good examples of faith in Jesus Christ. I feel like I am always learning from them! Aside from church on Sunday, we get to go to the temple once a month, and have church centered activities once a week with the youth.
