Hi I'm Troy

I'm an electrical engineer, I love scouting, I love my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father with a great family. I grew up in a large family and have great memories of my youth. Some of the memories include playing the French Horn through High school, camping with the family, making super8 videos with fun plots with high school friends and rebuilding a car engine. I served a mission in the northern part of Italy for 2 years where I love the people, the food and the culture. I shared my testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with these wonderful people. I then went school, got married to my best friend (she has blessed my life more than I can describe), and started a family. I enjoy work as an electrical engineer with an incredible group of people. I am involved in Boy Scout in a local unit and Cub Scouts in the district. I also enjoy projects at home, singing in choir, singing with my family and dates almost every week with my wife. Our children are growing up and I really enjoy seeing them learn and be excited about it. What a great time to be a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because of answers I have received through the whisperings of the Holy Ghost and the evidence of blessings I have seen in my life. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. It offers peace and protection. There are many things around us that present distractions from family, from goodness and kindness and from God. The teaching of Jesus Christ help me to stay closer to the path where I can improve, enjoy my family more meaningfully, and have peace and strength in my life. I want to improve and I believe that the teaches of Jesus Christ, personal revelation from the Holy Ghost, and the words of the prophet are the tools specifically designed by Heavenly Father to bless my life. I have access to all of these in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I also believe there is an organized plan for our progress that has been orchestrated in every detail to provide this "university of life" in which we learn by experience, receive answers to prayer and can make corrections by repentance through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This makes sense to me as I ponder it and work to understand more. I also want to share that I am a member of this Church because of the warmth or burning I feel in my heart. I know the teaches of Jesus Christ are true. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that the priesthood has been restored upon the earth. I know that God has lead His people by prophets such as in the Bible and I know that from Joseph Smith to our present day prophet, Thomas S. Monson, there has been a prophet on earth. I know that my God, our Heavenly Father loves me. He has told me in my heart and in my mind.

How I live my faith

I work to live my faith in my family, church and community. Personally, I am working to improve who I am and to be more like the Savior. I study to understand His word and I try listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. The more I practice this pattern the more I become like the Savior. In my family, I work to express love and gratitude in how I treat them. I am responsible for my words and actions in our home. We pray, as a family, and study the scriptures together. Right now we are studying the New Testament. We eat Breakfast and Dinner together, and spend time together when we can. We enjoy working and having fun as a family and work to be less selfish so we can enjoy our family even more. Our family tries to be useful to extended family and learn from them as well. We appreciate times to help, to cry or laugh together. In the Church, I serve wherever I can be of help and this merges into serving in the community. I currently serve with the sponsored Boy Scout troop in preparing summer camp and weekly scout meetings. I help with Cub Scout round table and work to support packs in our area. These scouts and cub scouts strengthen our community as they learn skills, develop their character and serve the community. I also was able to coach basket ball for a couple years in the community youth league and I enjoy organizing community dinners in our neighborhood so we can get to know each other better. This same effort of working to strive and serve as Jesus Christ is what I try to incorporate at work. I believe it is the pattern of success in any focus in my life. On Sundays, like others, I have the opportunity to occasionally teach classes, or speak at the pulpit. I have served in a number of areas over the years and have been blessed by each opportunity. In my family, church, and community, I have enjoyed the opportunity to, associate with great people, work to improve, and express my gratitude for all that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have done for me.
