Hi I'm Charlene Kulish

I am a convert to the church.

About Me

I am am a mother of 2 grown daughters and 1 son who is in college. I have six wonderful grandchildren. 4 grandsons and 2 twin granddaughters. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my grandchildren. I take each of them for about 4 or 5 days in the summer. I try to do personal thinks they like to do. I love to read especial fantasy. Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Harry Potter Series are among my favorite reads. I also love Pride and Prejudice. I like to read non fiction as well. I am reading about various presidents and this year it is FDR. Last year if was Teddy Roosevelt. I like to sew, crochet and I am very much into genealogy. My cousin and I are working on our family history book. I am of Ukrainian and Polish descent. In 2002 our family in Ukrainian found us and I have now made several trips to visit to my ancestral home. Finding them has been such a wonderful experience. My father's family has been in this village for over 400 years. I like to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I knew since I was 5 years old that Jesus Christ arose from the dead and lived. When I was 7 years old my father died. His untimely death left me with a great desire for universal truth. I would spent the next 20 plus years looking for answers. I was raised in a good Christian background but felt that many things were missing in my childhood church and as I studied the doctrine I could not agree with it and became indifferent towards church and religion in general. The death of my mother renewed in me a desire go back to church and I once again knew Christ lived and I need to make my life right before him. I was searching and searching for a church that met my needs. A co worker introduced me to the church and over the course of the next 2 years I looked into the church. I felt I had to know for myself that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the teaching and the Book of Mormon were true before I could become a member. My membership in the church has brought great joy, peace and meaning to my life. I love the Savior Jesus Christ and love being a part of this great work. The church is exciting.

How I live my faith

I like the organization of the church. One of the greatest things about the church is the visiting teaching program. It has given me so many wonderfully opportunities to get to know and be a part of other sisters lives that I know I would not do on my own. I also like the opportunity to be able to serve others. I believe the Relief Society is the finest women's organization in the world. The help, love and service that is given through this program has touched and blessed my life in so many ways. I have been bless to serve in many areas of Relief Society and at present am teaching in Relief Society. I am a single sister who has found many wonderful opportunities to serve and be a part of this church through the Relief Society program. I have just retired and find that there is so much for me to still do. I am now increasing my temple attendance and plan to do a mission in a couple of years. There just always are so many way to serve and have a purpose. I still have so much ahead of me to do. I do not feel I am retiring but just beginning another phase of my life in which I hope I will be able to serve the Lord in whatever capacity I can.
