Hi I'm Austin

I like to beatbox and do triathlons. I'm currently serving as a missionary in Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fukuoka, Japan. However, before this time, I was actively involved in various sports and activities. Some hobbies of mine included beatboxing, playing the guitar, singing, filming short films with my friends, and doing triathlons. I played water polo and swam all throughout high school, but I also enjoyed participating in soccer, baseball, running, etc. Thus far, I have completed two triathlons and one marathon. I hope to add more races to this list when I return home from my mission as I strive to one day participate in the Kona Ironman triathlon. Before leaving on my mission, I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for one year. I am a communications major with an emphasis in advertising, and am still contemplating whether or not to double major in graphic design as well. Right now though, I have put my education on hold as I have volunteered the next two years of my life to serve as a full-time missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I enjoy the happiness I receive from pursuing my faith. As I live my life according to the principles which the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches, I feel not just content with my life, but love it. Through reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, praying, and using all of the resources the Lord has provided me to communicate with Him, I have felt myself draw closer to Him: my family has been strengthened through the blessings the gospel of Jesus Christ has to offer; my health has remained strong through abstaining from harmful/addictive substances; and my faith continues to grow on a daily basis. Sure, there are times where I am confronted with difficult circumstances, but I know from this faith that there will always be a time when those challenges will come to an end. I know that when I endure my trials with obedience and righteousness, the blessings I receive from the Lord will far outweigh the difficulties I must learn to overcome. Another thing that I love about being Mormon is that I know God loves me. In fact, He loves me and everyone else so much that He created a plan for everyone to live with Him again one day. From studying this plan, I have learned where I came from, what my purpose is in this life, and where I am going after I die. It is comforting to know that there is purpose to this life and that God desires all of us to receive Salvation.

How I live my faith

Ever since I was young, the church has entrusted me and several other youths as well, with leadership responsibilities. Whether it meant watching over the well-being of our fellow peers, or giving talks in front of the church congregation at age 12, 15, 17, etc., I have had the opportunity to gain much leadership experience. I was raised in the church from birth, and have always loved what I believe in. I have noticed throughout my life that when I am living as obediently as I can, I am the happiest. Currently, I am serving a mission for my church as a sign of my devotion to the Lord, and also to express to Him the gratitude I have for the blessings He has given me.
