Hi I'm Taylor

I'm a husband, an expecting father, a big brother, an outdoorsman, a graduate student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, an expecting father, and a graduate student in electrical engineering. I get to play with electricity and antenna designs every day and I get a thrill out of making the unknown known. Some day I hope to be considered smart enough to get a PhD at some well known school in another state. For now I enjoy going home to my wife, reading, hiking, and lounging when I can squeeze it in. I love my family and I love being at a time in life where it seems the opportunities are endless.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon first because I believe the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I really look up to men of the past who seemed to be completely captive to their conscience. My heroes are men like William Tyndale who died for his convictions and Martin Luther who lived for his despite the constant threat of torment and death. I love the founding fathers who spent their lives and sometimes their blood because they believed they had a duty to do so. I like to think that in some small way I am living up to their examples by living according to what I believe to be true. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy to live my faith. Jesus said, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself" (John 7:17). I have experienced the fulfillment of this promise in my own life as I have tried to live according to the teachings of the Savior. I'm a Mormon because I choose to be. It makes sense to me, brings me peace and direction, and helps me make my home a sanctuary. I choose to continue enjoying those blessings and living according to the dictates of my conscience. That means I choose to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving my family, bettering myself, serving my neighbors, and enjoying life. My wife and I teach a class of 12 and 13 year olds. It is a fairly large class and it gives me greater appreciation for what my wife does as a 7th grade math teacher every day. We love it. I live my faith by sharing it with brand new teenagers who are facing the "real" world for the first time. It brings me great joy to share my faith with them that God will help them overcome difficulties if they will let Him. I tell them that "all things work together for good to those that love God" (Rom 8:28) and I believe it! It brings great purpose and meaning to my life and I hope it can do the same for them. I live my faith by trying to come closer to my Father in Heaven. I want to have a personal relationship with Him, to really know Him and I express my faith as I seek Him. I have been rewarded richly.
