Hi I'm Joanna

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mother to 3 very active little girls who entertain me daily. I have lived in Georgia for 3 years, but spent most of my life in California. We have enjoyed living in the southeast. I love to travel! I have visited Chile, Mexico, Australia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, and many U.S. states. I am one of those lucky people that has a sister in Hawaii. I love to learn about people and cultures. I am fluent in Spanish and speak some french. My degree is in Biology from BYU. I served a mission in Santiago, Chile. I enjoy almost any outdoor activity, especially hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and camping. I love to read, be social, and eat good food. I have a strong interest in Healthcare and politics. I was a sales rep for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and am currently planning my future career in healthcare. I will have to put my dream on hold of being a covert CIA agent, for now.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to grow up in California where I learned about many cultures and religions. My parents raised me in the Mormon church, but I had to decide to follow it for my self. Being a Mormon teenager isn't easy. I avoided drugs, alcohol, and was careful about the boys I dated. Despite these limitations, I had a lot of friends and wonderful memories from my high school years. The bottom line for me is a desire to know the truth about where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going after this life. I have felt God's presence in powerful ways, this motivates me to do what it takes to be in his Presence forever, that sounds like heaven to me! Christ is our brother and Savior. He taught us what we need to do (and not do) to be worthy of being in Heavenly Fathers presence. He taught many things in person, and has and always will teach us through his Prophets. I have studied the words of the living prophet my whole life. I also study the scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon) regularly. When I apply their teachings to my life, I have more peace, happiness, and direction.

How I live my faith

I believe that Christ taught us to live our religion or faith daily. No one is perfect, but we can try every day. I pray several times a day, and focus my mind on what I am thankful for. The past several years have been some of the toughest I have ever endured. I had to work through the betrayal of a spouse, survive divorce, and adjust to being a single mom. My faith in the Savior enabled me to reach to God, and avoid the bitterness that would try to creep into my heart. I had very clear answers to prayer that guided my actions. I felt relief from intense pain and loneliness. I believe that God allows us to experience the difficulties of this life because they can make us stronger. I am certain that he is there to help us navigate those difficult times, and provide the Balm of Gilead that Jesus spoke of. I am actively involved with music at church. I direct the choir for my local congregation, and sing in a multi-faith community choir. Many Sunday's I am able to teach one of the children's classes.
