Hi I'm Stacey

I grew up in Minneapolis but have lived most of my adult life in Colorado. I'm a mother of twins and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read and write and teach. When I was going to college the first time, most of the girls I knew were either going to be nurses or teachers, but I wanted to be different. I decided I'd like to be an advertising executive or get an MBA so started college with that in mind. I got married young but was determined to finish college so went to class at night while working full time. I graduated with a double major - English and Mass Communication. I got a job with an ad agency but quickly found that I didn't much care about helping companies make money, so I went home to my baby and eventually had four children. Now that they are grown, I find that what I really DO want to do is teach. I am almost finished with my licensure in Secondary English and have also earned a Linguistically Diverse Education endorsement. My husband and I adore our children - but we also love being empty nesters!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, and have always believed that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's restored church. But as a teenager, I wanted to know for myself. I wanted a spiritual knowledge that what I had been taught was true. I have received confirmation of many of the gospel's truths throughout my life, starting at a very young age, and continue to receive confirmation. When I read the Book of Mormon, the Holy Ghost witnesses to me of its truth. All the joy that I have experienced in my life is spiritual and centers around my family, my purpose here on earth, and God's plan for his children (including me!).

How I live my faith

Currently I am the president of our local church women's group. I have worked with kids throughout the years in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, in church youth groups and children's groups. It was while teaching teenagers in an early-morning class held each school-day morning that I decided I really did want to be a teacher by profession. I live my faith by trying to follow the Savior, by making choices each day that will help me be closer to him - like reading my scriptures, praying and trying to serve others.
