Hi I'm Winston "Ali"

I was born in Jamaica. I grew up with a single mother. I am a physician with a lovely family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a native of the beautiful island of Jamaica. I grew up there under the wonderful care of a hard working single mother. She sacrificed alot and ensured that education was a priority and that I strived to be a well rounded boy. I play the piano, enjoy soccer, I am a black belt in Karate and even appeared in a few TV commericals and newspaper ads. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy dancing to salsa, merengue and bachata. I studied medicine and now practice as a family physician. I enjoy the beach and have a wonderful wife and 2 young children who bring great joy into my life.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child, I was invited to play the piano in several churches and was exposed to religion at an early age. My older sister taught sunday school classes in a church back in Jamaica and I learnt alot of the wonderful Bible stories as a result. I wondered for years why didn't we have a prophet on earth today like they did hundreds of years ago. My mother and I met the LDS misssionaries in Jamaica and they shared with us the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It was the first time that I had heard about the church and my friends made fun of me beacuse I was going to the Mormon church. As I visited I saw nothing of what they described. I saw fun loving peolpe and families who were striving to live as Jesus asked us to. It made alot of sense to me and I prayed to God to get confirmation of the message. I then was baptized and consider it a critical decision made at a critical time. I learnt more and continued enjoying the blessings of following the commandments. I had the opportunity to serve a full time mission and spent two years sharing what had brought me great joy with the spanish speaking population in the north east United States. Now that I am married I see how the teachings of the gospel bring joy into our family. I know that when families are based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ they are much better able to withstand the temptations and distractions that we encounter daily. I enjoy learning and understanding more about my Heavenly Father's love for me, individually. As a father of 2 children it brings me comfort to know that they are guided not only by the love and care that my wife and I give, but by their Heavenly Father as well. Now I can see His hand more clearly in my life as a young boy and now. I am extremely happy to also know that there is a prophet today on earth, like Moses, Abraham and Noah were in the days of old. I feel peace in my heart when I do what is right and look around at the wonderful creations that God has made for us.

How I live my faith

As a physicain I encounter sickness, pain and suffering daily. The young and the old all have challenges in life, not only physical but also mental. I am grateful for the understanding of the teachings of Jesus Christ and have seen the power of God help, heal, sustain and comfort others in time of need. I have a firm belief that we are all God's children and I enjoy working with the underserved population in the Atlanta area . I am a member of the National Health Service Corps. I participate in local service projects and both related to work and church. As one of the leaders of a local congregation of the church I am involved with the youth of the church and enjoy seeing how they grow as good, honest, virtuous young men and women in their communities. I am also involved in the teaching and preparing of men and women to achieve their God given potential as sons and daughters of God as they live their lives following the example that Christ has set for us. I believe in being honest at all times and working hard. I enjoy visiting the members of the church and hearing of their wonderful experiences as they get heaven sent blessings through their obedience.
