Hi I'm Harriet

I grew up in Northern New Mexico. I was raised Southern Baptist in a strong Catholic community. I became a Mormon in College.

About Me

I have been happily married for 31 years and have 3 sons and 3 daughters. I enjoy gardening, refinishing furniture, reading, and taking long walks. I love to look for sea shells and watch the tide come and go. I enjoy watching for deer, elk and any other wildlife that might be around. I love exploring old ruins and the history of those who have gone before. I love making baby quilts and other useful items. Going to the nearest fabric store, garden center, or home improvement center brings a smile. I enjoy teaching it is a wonderful feeling when you can see some one grasp a concept.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Southern Baptist in a small town in Northern New Mexico. My Grandmother lived next door and ran a Hotel. She always had room for one more at her table. The missionaries would every now and then come every time they would be there I felt something different about them even as a small child. My Grandfather took us to every historical place he could which also included Temple Square in Salt lake City. Standing and looking at the Temple I knew something was different about that building and place. When I went to college in Cedar City, Utah (not to far from home) my Preacher was telling me how everyone in that town needed to be saved. I took an institute class (I didn't know what institute was) because my room mates assured me it was an easy 'A'. Brother Chris didn't have anything bad to say about any religion. I had always had questions he had answers. I read the Book of Mormon while I was on a study abroad semester in Mexico. President Kimball was the Prophet at the time and he came to speak in Mexico City. As I heard him speak and read and studied My testimony grew. I came to know beyond any doubt that The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's true church. That there is a Living Prophet on the earth today. I had always known about Jesus now I understood. I have never wavered since that time. I am so grateful for my Testimony.

How I live my faith

My faith is who I am. Being kind and helpful to those I come in contact with. Basically I strive to be a good person. Currently I am helping people learn how to store extra food and water. How to cook with what you have on hand. How to care for yourself and your family in times of emergency. I have the opportunity to visit two wonderful sisters who have become close friends. I also have wonderful sisters who visit me. My youngest son is able to participate with others that have his same values. It is so helpful to have others who will help you and in turn you can help others.
