Hi I'm Bob

I'm just a regular guy. I grew up in Queensland and went to High School in Ipswich. I am still working full time, and love life.

About Me

I'm single now but have 3 grown up sons and look forward to every minute with them. I have travelled a bit for work - such as 2 years in the Himalayas and then 5 years working in Africa. I had many experiences in Africa such as being held by robbers and swindled because I am way too trusting. I am an electronics technician and love dabbling in anything electronic. I am currently doing security eletronics including CCTV. My favourite shows are the Stargate series - the original and the SG Universe, but not Atlantis series.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church whilst travelling in central Queensland working on communication systems. I stayed at the same place that two young Mormon missionaries were also staying and for several weeks they did not talk to me about the Church even though we were having meals together. I fixed their car once and also got to know them as friends alittle bit. One was from the US, and one from New Zealand. They showed me a book called The Book of Mormon and I did not recall ever hearing of this before and it was interesting. Simply put, the Book of Mormon is a true account of people long ago. I love it. It supports and clarifies the Bible totally. i joined the Church in Mundubberra and have been a member more that 40 years. I served a mission and am still studying and learning all about it. I have had many many prayers answered. There IS some one listening to our prayers. Try it. I have seen many things occur. While I was in the Himalayas, I was wondering if I would find any Mormons in the area to go to Church with, and guess what - I found a branch in Taxila. Apparently there was a oslem man in about 1912 who had a dream in whcih he saw the Saviour and when he came out in the morning he told his brothers and family that he wanted to be a Christian. This meant that they had to kill him and so he was on the run with his wife and baby. After waiting for a year to see if he changed his mind, the family sent some one who shot him. I met the small baby now in his eighties and he had been allowed to be raised as a Christian because his father had paid the price. The old man was not a member of the Church but his son was and he was the Branch president of that small branch. I loved just seeing them and knowing that the truth could be found literally anywhere. I attended Church with the large family and some others for two years and l learnt a lot about trusting God. Yes, I am a Mormon and love it.

How I live my faith

I currently attend Church and look forward to learning more. I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon and will continue to read and learn all I can. I pay tithing happily and gratefully. I renew each week, when I take the Sacrament, my promise to live a true Christian life. There are often ways I can find to do things for others, but perhaps not as often as I should be. Each religion has its good points and good people. I have been in Buddhist Temples and Hindu Temples and looked the teachings in them and also many of the Christian churches, and I think we all should keep the good that we have, and move up to a higher level when we find it. So I never try to dispell another's belief, but to add to it.
