Hi I'm James Smith

I am a husband, Father, and sports fan. I am a convert and I am a Mormon

About Me

First off I have three kids and a loving wife. I grew up in Spokane Washington and that is where I met my wife. I love the outdoors especially camping and fishing. We always are getting together with friends to play games and enjoy others company. Love to play and watch all sports to help stay active as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when we lived in Vancouver, WA my wife (Melissa) wanted to find a church to go to. She grew up going to church and I grew up with no religious background. We lived across the street from an elementary school where my wife took my son to play each day. She meet a sister who took her kids there a lot as well. She soon invited Melissa to play group with the other sisters. Shortly after that my wife asked me if I would take the missionary discussions with her. We had our first lesson in a members home. I don't remember anything about the lesson besides feeling comfort and peace. The missionaries asked if we could meet again and Melissa said it was up to me. I said how about next Tuesday. The spirit I felt that day was incredible and every since then I knew that is what I wanted in my life. We were baptized in October of 2007. I am and always will be a Mormon because I have been touched by the spirit and have a strong Testimony that this is Christs one and only true church here on earth. I know that Joseph Smith restored this church. I also have a testimony of Gods love for all his children and his great plan of salvation. I lost my baby girl Courtney Rose Smith shortly after birth and it brings me great peace knowing that I can and will be with her once again. I am happy to be raising my kids as members and hope they grow there own testimonies through us and there experiences. I promise you if you truly read the Book of Mormon and ask your Heavenly Father if this is his church and if the book is true you will receive and answer.

How I live my faith

First I love my family and make sure to make time for them. I also make sure to study the scriptures and grow my faith by attending church and church activities. Most importantly the sacrament each week. I also try to help others that I see need help no matter who they are. This is most important to me since I know this is what Christ would do. Right now I am a Ward Mission Leader for the Canyon Ridge ward in Castle Rock, CO. I try to make sure give time to my calling each week as well.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

James Smith
The most important things that the scriptures and church teach us about baptism is that it is necessary for us all to be baptized by immersion in Christs name. Just as Christ was baptized we also must be baptized. Most importantly by someone who holds the proper priesthood authority. Anyone who repents of there sins and comes unto Christ can be baptized.
