Hi I'm Clay

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father of two (and a half), and a medical resident. Over the past few years my family and I have bounced around the country for schooling and residency but I am very lucky to have an extremely supportive wife. In the rare free moment, I like to spend my time cycling or playing golf. In an attempt to become a more productive person I am trying to teach my 3 year old to play golf so I can be a father and a golfer at the same time. It is a work in progress.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up a going to church, I don't think I gained a testimony of the gospel until I was around 18. This is probably due to the fact that up until this point I was not looking very hard. As I was finishing High School I realized I was at a crossroads in my life and I needed to make some real decisions that were going to influence the rest of my life. I took the challenge to read and study the Book of Mormon and to pray with a sincere intent to find out whether or not its teachings were true. As I did this, I was impressed by the Spirit of God and it was at that point that I gained a desire to bring my life in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ. After this, I decided to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was called to serve in the Baltics in north eastern Europe. While serving, my faith grew as I watched others read and pray about the Book of Mormon and become converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I returned home from my mission and began my family, I gained an even greater understanding of the love God has for all of his children. The Mormon Church teaches that families can be sealed together for time and all eternity and although I had been taught this most of my life, the significance of this doctrine finally began to sink in. So to simply answer the question "why I'm a Mormon" it is because I have read and prayed about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and received a confirmation from the Holy Ghost. I know that God the Father and Jesus Christ called Joseph Smith to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know that others who desire to gain a similar witness can do so through sincere prayer

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by simply following the teachings of Jesus Christ. I am by no means perfect and I constantly fall short in my attempts to be Christlike. Despite my shortcomings, I have been extremely blessed by God for my efforts and my faith and love of God continues to grow.
