Hi I'm Kathlene

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom with three teenagers. I love to practice interior design. I enjoy catering and driving my husband nuts with home improvement projects. My daughter and I are great fans of Jane Austen and all things related to wedding planning.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by a divorced mother. My Father lived in another state and we didn't have much contact with him. We grew up in Oklahoma and were in the middle of the bible belt. I went to other churches with my friends and attended Bible school every summer. My mom used to say, "Well, the Mormon church is true, but regardless, it is the best way to raise children." That statement always made me wonder if she truly believed. Now that I am a mother and have been a member of the Mormon church since I was eight, I can say without a doubt that this is the only true church on the face of the earth. There is no "regardless" in my statement. I think that "because" the church is true, it is the best and only way to raise a family in these modern days. I am grateful that I was able to attend many different churches and have friends of many religions, but I know that this is the only church with the authority and fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am currently working with and serving the youth in my area. Each summer, we plan a camp for the girls where they can learn camping skills and enjoy being together in a good environment. For many girls, this time is the highlight of their year. We have fun together, but most importantly they have the opportunity to feel the spirit of the Lord in a way that they can't in their everyday life. We try to help them understand that they are daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves them. We also just finished a having a youth conference, where we had youth from many cities come together for three days and listen to speakers and attend workshops. We had a committee of youth help plan and carry out this very large project. They chose the theme, which was, An Ensign to the Nation. They know that they are a beacon of light to the world and that through their shining example, others may find their way to the light of Christ.
