Hi I'm Brooke

I live in Colorado and I'm a mother of 4 girls. So we dance a lot even in the grocery store if the song is right. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 36 and I'm a mom trying to do it all: raise confident daughters, write children's novels, read even more novels, volunteer and serve in my community, spend quality time with my husband that doesn't resemble the movie Date Night, run off the baby weight I just can't shake (even after finishing my first half marathon), and sleep...occasionally...when the children finally give up and close their little eyes. Sure, I'm exhausted. I've got dark circles under my eyes and fine lines that no cream can wipe away, but I wouldn't trade it. I love my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I believe in and love my Savior Jesus Christ. He atoned for our sins, died on the cross and was resurrected so that we can return to live with Him. I believe this was part of God's plan for us. When Christ lived on Earth, he established his church which the apostles carried on after his death. When the apostles were killed, many things were lost. When truth is lost, I believe God sends us prophets like Noah, Abraham, and Moses. I believe that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and called him to be a prophet and restore the church that Jesus Christ had established. I believe God sends us prophets to guide us and I believe President Thomas S Monson to be a living prophet. I believe the Bible to be the word of God and that The Book of Mormon, a history of the people in the ancient Americas, is another witness that Jesus is the Christ. I'm so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ, I feel his love through The Holy Spirit as I try to live his commandments. I'm so grateful for the support this church gives me in my life as I strive to live Jesus Christ's gospel.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church congregation as a Sunday School teacher. I teach the adults gospel principles that will help them draw closer to Jesus Christ. This year, we are studying the New Testament and I love studying about Christ and the apostles. By learning about Him, my faith in Him grows as well as my desire to live his commandments. I'm involved in the church's women's group that provides relief for one another as well as those in our community and abroad. This year we worked on humanitarian packages for India. I'm also involved in a non-profit organization of women from many faiths who come together to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and provide for those in need in our community. This year we delivered stuffed stockings to the homeless, towels to the homeless shelter, diaper bags for teen moms, blankets for children in the Intensive Care, school supplies for children who can't afford them, and Mother's Day gifts for moms with children in the hospital.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, not at all. I believe Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to restore Jesus Christ's church--the same church Christ established when He was on the Earth. I am grateful to Joseph Smith for his courage and sacrifice to restore lost truths such as the Priesthood and Gift of the Holy Ghost. But no we don't worship him. We worship God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
