Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a Mormon. I grew up near a small town in northern Wyoming in the US. I've lived all over the US and Germany. Ich kann Deutsch

About Me

I am the 3rd child in my family out of four boys. Now I'm a father of four myself; 2 sons and 2 daughters. All of them are fine people. i enjoy backpacking, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, photography, chess, gun-smithing, and restoring old Mopars. I love being a Dad and trying to help my kids with tough decisions in their lives. My family is the most important thing in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. My parents joined when I was little and sure I was baptized when I was eight. But I have never been one to take someone else's word for much of anything. Especially when it comes to matters of an important nature. It's not that I'm not trusting, on the contrary. I usually trust too much. It is just important for me to know that when I make a decision or choice that it really is MY choice. I have searched all of my life for truth and enlightenment, and I hope to continue that search forever. I have studied many religions, spent countless hours in the halls and libraries of secular learning, traveled to many lands, come to know and love many people of many cultures. Always searching for "the Answers"... for truth. When I was young I think I expected that TRUTH would someday be found at the end of some hypothetical string... I would discover that string and give it a tug and all the mysteries of the universe would be poured out upon me. Well I pulled on a lot of strings and though I must admit much knowledge was imparted, wisdom did not always accompany the discoveries. As an adult I am at last learning to trust in God for the answers I have always sought in life. I have always known in my heart that He knows me, loves me, watches over me and listens to my prayers, but I finally came to realize that He really has all the answers! He has been holding them out to me for decades, waiting for me to lift my eyes up from the search for the tattered strings of mortal wisdom and knowledge and recognize the real truth that waits only for the humble hearts, open minds, and contrite spirits of those who honestly seek it! I had to learn to trust the Lord and understand His promise to ALL of His children as found in His scriptures, particularly James 1:5-7 (King James Bible). After having read the scriptures one more time I found myself asking a series of simple questions. He has beautiful answers

How I live my faith

Though I never had a calling in my youth, Over the years I have served as a; Full-Time missionary for two years, Scout Leader for 12+ years, a Deacons Quorum adviser, a first Counselor in the Elders Quorum (twice), a Sunday School President (briefly), an Elders Quorum instructor, a Sunday School teacher, a Second counselor in the Bishopric and a Home Teacher. My most important callings in this life are to be a father to my four children, a worthy husband to my wife and to follow the savior commandment to "love thy neighbor as thyself." I can't love the Lord, my God with all my heart, might, mind and soul if I don't love my neighbor. Sometimes it maybe harder to love them than I would like it to be, but growth comes through challenge. I aspire to be the kind of person that my neighbors, co-workers and others can come to at any time for help, support, a strong back, a friendly smile, and a welcome shoulder. I believe that what we do with the gifts God has given us is more important than the "coat" we wear while we do His work.
