Hi I'm Andrea Rowbottom

I grew up in Canada. I have lived on 3 different continents. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have 3 brothers and 4 sisters. I live in Australia and love to travel. I have lived in the UK and travelled quite a bit while I was there. I love to read and I write poetry, but I also love to hang out with my friends and go to the beach. I work as an Employment Coordiantor for a labour hire company and love where I work. I also enjoy going to the gym, running and ice cream! I have a weakness for sweets and for funny movies. I love to laugh and enjoy being around a variety of people from different backgrounds. I find that they add a lot to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My parents are both converts and they raised my siblings and I as Mormons. There were not a lot of members where I grew up and it was not easy being one. I often felt like the odd person out. When I moved away for university I had the decision to make of whether or not I really wanted to stay a Mormon. I had always had some doubts growing up, but had never told anyone about them. As a teenager I prayed about the church and felt that it was true. As an adult I hhad to decide if I was going to continue on that path. I looked at other churches and lifestyles. I have always made friends that were not Mormon and I looked at their lives and what it was that I wanted. I prayed a lot about what I wanted and felt without a doubt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was God's church on earth. I have found so much peace, joy and happiness in being a member. I love this church and God and that joy that they bring into my life. He has made me into so much more that I can be on my own.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in a variety of ways. I try to live it every day by reading the scriptures and praying. I try not to swear, though I admit that I slip upon occasion. I try to live in a way that shows that I am a daughter of God and that we are each his children. I try to help people when I can and be there for anyone who needs help - whether it is a hug, a shoulder to cry on, a place to stay or someone to mow their lawn. I find that some of the people that I become the closest to are those that I am able to help. In church I am the ward music director. I direct the choir and organise all of the music for our meetings. I love my assignment and being able to share my testimony of Jesus Christ through music.

What is being a Mormon like?

Andrea Rowbottom
It isn't easy and our lives are definitely not smooth sailing. We have as many rough patches as the next person, but having the gospel in my life brings me peace. It helps me know that there is a plan, that God knows me and he has a plan for me. He watches over me and he cares for me. Living the teaches that I have been taught has helped me find meaning and hope at times when there doesn't seem to be any. It makes the bad times better and good times even more joyous. Knowing there is someone who loves you and watches over you is a great gift. Show more Show less
