Hi I'm James

I am a student, I am friendly, I like spending carefree time with friends, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I think that it is difficult to write about myself in only 1500 letters because each person is so complicated and vast. That is partly why I like to get to know so many people. I am a friendly person and I like making friends. I attend a University in the state of Utah and I love the process of learning in any class where you can learn with others either through a study group or in a lab. The learning process become more interesting as others see the material from different perspectives and they can solve problems in completely different way than you by yourself can. I enjoy learning as well. I feel that as I learn more, I am progressing. Whether it is a Math, an Art History, or Geology. I feel that different subjects gives me underlying wisdom and life lessons that are deeper than the subject matter by itself. I enjoy having fun. I like singing Karaoke, playing strategy board games like Risk and Settler's of Cataan, and physical activity like running, ice hockey, and soccer. I love to exercise because I feel more peace, balance, and confidence. Physical exercise is good for my brain and it helps me be more organized with my time. I am someone who loves being spontaneous, creative, deductive, expressive, and pensive. It depends on my mood. I like to make plans for my life, but I am enthralled at the possibility of what can happen next. I am motivated to develop characteristics and skills that help me face a change of circumstances or a disaster.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is Christ's church on the earth and this is the way that we can have happiness in this life and in the life to come. By living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is the only way to have the most joy in this life and I know that to be true. I know that when we do not follow the commandments of our father in heaven, we have feelings of guilt and emptiness because I have felt that way before. The Book of Mormon is the word of God because it helps us have greater faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, and it gives me a full and uplifted feeling when I read it. When we come across something new, we do not know if it is true until we have tried it our for ourselves. I invite everyone to read the Book of Mormon, so that they can know for themselves if it is indeed the word of God. If you feel like the contents of this website are of God, don't hesitate to invite the missionaries to your home.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do better everyday. The doctor discovered a large tumor in my left knee September 2013. This was a shock for me because I would never anticipate that there would be a tumor in my leg. The discovery of the tumor caused me to be fearful. As I prayed to my Father in Heaven, studied the scriptures, and attended the temple, an undeniable peace came over me. I felt that everything was going to be alright and that there was someone watching over me. They later discovered that the tumor was benign. I had surgery in October 2013 and I am still recovering from some of the effects that come from having a major surgery. I can't walk without crutches and it is difficult to exercise. I need help with simple tasks like carrying my laundry to the laundry room or grocery shopping, but my Heavenly Father has helped me with all of these tasks. There have been many times in my life where I have felt alone or weak. I felt this way a lot of my mission to California. But I have noticed that when I ask for help through prayer, there is this real power that helps me. There is no other way to explain it than that God is real and He really loves us. I would me foolish to try to justify that God is not there. I know that God lives and that He listens to our prayers. I fail a lot at the obligations that are associated with this knowledge. My life is an everyday battle. I try hard to heal, improve my character, and progress.
