Hi I'm Walt

I'm a husband, father, and software developer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my wife since 1999 and we have six children - five boys and a girl in the middle. I work as a software developer writing applications used in marketing and statistical research. I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from BYU and a master's degree in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University. I enjoy Scouting, kayaking, skiing, and especially astronomy. I also collect Transformer toys (G1).

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, however when I was 16 I was not doing the things which I should. I came to a crossroads where I needed to know if our Heavenly Father was real and whether he was watching over me. Having noticed my copy of the Book of Mormon given to me by my parents, I opened it at random. It fell open to 3 Nephi 16:13, and the first word my eyes fell upon was 'repent'. I continued to read and I began to feel the Spirit. I knelt down and prayed, and received a confirmation that the Gospel is true. From that time I sought to follow the example of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

In my ward I serve as president in our ward's Elders Quorum. At home my wife and I have tried to emphasize the role of the Savior and the way he treated people to our children.
