Hi I'm Christopher Gubler

I grew up in Las Vegas. I've done humanitarian aid in Mexico and Ecuador. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19-years old, I love to read books, I love my heritage, and I love my job. As of now, the books I am actively reading are the Bible and the Book of Mormon. The more I read and learn about Christ the more I want to learn more! My heritage, well, I am from Switzerland! The last name Gubler isn't all that big of a name, but it is getting bigger and bigger as more generations pass. Something interesting is that most of my friends have had fun making different variations with the first three-ish letters... Gub (no, I have not met myself in the future), Goober, Gubs, and many others. My favorite meal is a Swiss-German meal that we had for my Grandpa's birthday one year! My job, well, I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I get to do the best thing in the world which is to help people! I get to help them with their physical needs such as mowing people's lawns, helping them move to another house, helping clean gutters, trimming hedges, and anything else I can find. I also get to help people with their spiritual needs by helping them gain a stronger relationship with, and testimony of Christ. No matter what faith people are, everyone (including me) needs a stronger relationship with Christ and I feel peace and happiness in this job as I help the world grow closer to Him!

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be of this faith for one very simple reason. I read the Book of Mormon, asked God, and got an answer. Everything significant in my life has come from that answer! The Book of Mormon is so essential in knowing whether or not this church is true. Anyone who reads, thinks about, and asks God with a sincere heart WILL know that the Book of Mormon is true, that God restored His church through the man-prophet Joseph Smith, and today He gives guidance to His church through a true and living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I know this with all of my heart, and that is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

For the past few years, I have worked to save up money so that I would be able to do what I do now... live my faith in the best way possible, by bringing others closer to Christ! I am so happy to be a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I get to spend all of my time helping and serving the people. It is the best thing that I could ever do at this time and I am glad that I have had the opportunity to be called by a prophet of God to do that! As of now, I serve with many different people from many different countries and cultures. I serve in the Spanish language and have grown to love their cultures with a passion in a way that I would not have been able to grow any other way. This in turn has strengthened my ability to love and serve them to my fullest capacity. I know that I am inadequate, but I also know that God is with me, helping me, and strengthening me to be His instrument in helping His children. I spend hours a day in the scriptures as I strive to learn more about and become more like our brother and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is so hard to fully understand how much Christ did for us, but the more I learn, the more I gain a greater love for Him.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Christopher Gubler
We have missionaries that proselyte for many different reasons, but the biggest one is to teach of Jesus Christ. The more that I learn about Jesus Christ, the more I feel a great love for Him and a need to tell people about Him. He has not only done more for human-kind than anyone has or ever will do, but with my intensive study on Christ that will be life-lasting, I continue to understand how little we know about everything that He did for us, or even the magnitude of it! We know that only through Jesus Christ can we be saved, and we want to help bring others unto Him and the lasting peace and joy that comes from that. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Christopher Gubler
Our whole view as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is centered on our title... Jesus Christ. He did and still does everything for us! So yes, we are Christians because we believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that He is our Savior and Redeemer. Through His suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection, we can all return to live with Him, our Father in Heaven, and our families. He has paved the way for us. He was the perfect example of love, sacrifice, selflessness. As He said, He did everything for the Father out of His great love for Him and for us. So, yes we are Christian, because we know that without Him, we cannot enter into the Kingdom of God! Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Christopher Gubler
This is misconception that many have. Jesus Christ is the author of our salvation. He is our Savior and Redeemer. There is no other way to return to live with God than through Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a man just like Moses, Abraham, and Isaiah. We respect him as a person who did great things just as we respect Moses for bringing the children of Israel across the Red Sea on dry ground. He was a servant of the Lord who did many great things to help the world come unto Christ. He restored the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. He was given and translated an ancient record into English. He did many great and mighty things, but he still was a man who had his own faults and had to come unto Christ to be saved. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Christopher Gubler
The Bible contains the Old Testament which is a record of the writings of the ancient prophets in the Middle East; the New Testament is a record of Christ and the church written by inspired men of that time. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament written by prophets on the American continent and is a history of a thousand years from 600 B.C. to 400 A.D. The Book of Mormon is proof that we are all God's children and that he loves us equally no matter where we are from or what color our skin is. He had prophets to help and bless His children in the Americas just as He did elsewhere. My favorite part is when Christ comes and visits the people in the Americas after His resurrection. It truly shows His love for all people that He would come to His "other sheep" (as He is the Sheppard). It also demonstrates to us that He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever as He taught the same Gospel. It is the word of God written by prophets He called in another part of the world.
