Hi I'm Jay
From Pennsville, NJ. I play guitar, sing, and piano. I try to always live by "Here am I, send me." & "Come what may and love it."
About Me
My name is Jonnie. People call me Jay for short. I am 19 years old and I work at a truck stop as the overnight shift manager. I am a singer, writer, guitar player, piano player, and a Mormon. I have an exotic piercing in my right ear and two tattooes that act as permanent bracelets. I am accepted for who I am in this chruch.
Why I am a Mormon
A week after my birthday in January of 2011 I was kicked out of my home. I didnt have anything. I packet up my blanket and some favorite books, my pillow, and whatever clothes that I could grab. I lived out of my car. Finally I saved enough money to get a hotel room. And I lived in three different hotels. Every few weeks I would change hotels because of high prices. The room would always take my entire pay check. My car broke down and now I dont have a car. I was a cutter relapsed from rehab, very big drug dealer and also a junkie. I took everything from pills to weed to coke and heroin to just smoking cigarettes. My life was just comming to an end. I didnt know if I was going to overdose and die or just die of a broken heart. Then the missionaries came. Someone I knew sent them to my hotel room. I opened my door and listened to their lesson. I remember perfectly being really rude and mean to these two men who were so nice. They didnt judge me. They knew I was a troubled soul that just needed some help. Slowly and steadily I went through withdraw and eventually quit drugs cold turkey. I even quit cigarettes. I no longer cut my body or scar it with tattoos. There was even a family in the church who came to me and asked me to move in with them. So I now live with them and they have become my family. My mom and dad. They are the answer to my prayers that I have been begging since I was a small child. God blessed me with so many things I couldnt never be humble enough. Becoming so close to someone isnt somthing that I usually do. I have had an abusive upbringing, abusive boyfriends, and rehab was not a pleasure vacation. When I was eight years old my cousin actually raped me. Something I must face everyday. I have had My life has changed so much because I have the gospel and I encourage everyone to read, ponder, and pray and learn for themselves what God can do for them. Maybe one day my testimony will be able to help others who are in need of Jesus Christ.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by telling as many people I can about the gospel or "good news" of Jesus Christ. I sing in my ward's choir and I also try and play the piano for primary. I serve others as much as I can and as frequently as I can. Inviting people to church is my favorite thing to do. It is very hard though. There are many people who do not accept me simply because I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I say unto anyone who has experienced this that you are not alone!! Also, that I am NOT ashamed. I do not regret the choices that I made to be baptized and recieve the Holy Ghost. I do not regret the road that I had to take to get to where I am today. I live my life by the words of wisdom, and always remember to have Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Recieving of the Holy Ghost, and to ALWAYS...ENDURE TO THE END!
