Hi I'm Stuart

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad, husband, handy-man, triathlete, and outdoorsman. I have two fantastic daughters who make life worth living each day. My wife is the sweetest, most caring, supportive and patient woman I know. I count myself blessed to have stumbled into her life. I work in a large, corporate law department and enjoy what I do. I hope someday to live in a smaller town closer to family -- and to spend more time outdoors with my family and labrador retrievers than inside an office!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the spiritual witness I received that this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and because practicing my faith makes me happy. I lived many years of my life trying to chart my own course, rebelling from standards I was taught in my youth, and seeking my own will and desires. During that time, I progressively became unhappier and unhappier. I found little joy in life. I was constantly comparing myself with others, seeking to be successful in the eyes of the world, and trying to elevate myself above other people. I had lost much of the love I once had for others - I was self-consumed and miserable. Gradually, I came to realize that only the Lord Jesus Christ could free me. I turned to the scriptures; I began to pray again; and I sought to know and submit to the Lord's will. I humbled myself before Him and asked for forgiveness for my rebellion and for turning my back on Him. In the moment that I seemed to be at my lowest and most remorseful point, I felt relief, peace, joy, and love flood into my heart. The Lord freed me, forgave me, and answered my prayers. He helped me to know without question that He lives, and that He and Heavenly Father know me, love me, and want me to serve them by serving and loving others. Now, as I focus my life on lifting up others - elevating them - I find that true joy and happiness come from living and loving like Christ - doing what He would do if He was here. That is the true source of happiness. I know that Christ lives. I know that He atoned for our sins. I know that His priesthood was restored in these latter days through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that through the restoration of Christ's church, we have been blessed again on earth with Houses of the Lord - Temples where we may make and renew covenants with the Lord that will bring happiness to us and our ancestors in this life and the life to come. I'm a Mormon - a disciple of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actively living the gospel of Jesus Christ on a daily basis. I strive to always remember Christ - to let Him guide my choices. I pray often each day. I seek counsel and support from Heavenly Father about who I can help on His behalf each day. The gospel provides a lens through which I try to view the world and live my life - it helps me be in the world, but not of the world. It provides context and perspective to the trials that I face. It helps me try to keep an eternal perspective - to live life for long-term objectives and happiness, rather than instant gratification.
