Hi I'm Dana

I'm a Mormon living on in the mid-Atlantic region of the US. I teach music education and direct the band at Towson University.

About Me

I grew up on a big ranch in western Nebraska, and then moved while in high school to a large ranch in Texas. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. After high school, I went to college on a music scholarship. My wife and I have six children, and we have enjoyed spending time backpacking with them.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into a Mormon family, I have taken the opportunity to examine my beliefs and make my own decisions about being a member of the Church. I committed to being an active member in my first year of graduate school, and the consequences of that choice have been blessings in my life. I expect I would not have the wonderful wife and children, or be as happy with my life if I had not made that conscious choice at that critical point in my life.

How I live my faith

Going to church brings peace to me. As I listen and learn, I feel the upward pull of my Savior, and I know of His love for me, in a very real and personal way. I see members of our congregation perform quiet yet significant acts of charity, the pure love of Christ, on a regular basis. I see how the youth use what they learn in church to help them combat against those things in the world that would shackle them, and reduce their freedom. I believe that as we live the teachings of the Savior, we will be happy, we will find joy, and we will have the strength to deal with the tough times that all of us face as we live on this earth.
