Hi I'm Mike

I'm a medial student in Texas.

About Me

I am a dad with two small children. I am thrille to be in my last year of medical school and unsure of where we will end up from here. I enjoy sprint and olympic didstance triathlons and competed in 6 this past year. I didn't win any, but it is strangly addictive and a great way to make myself excercise! I just want to be a good husband and father, and that is really where I want to leave my mark on society.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because it makes me happy. There is a lot of grey area in today's world about what is right and wrong. So many decisions to make. As a member of the LDS church I have always felt like have all the tools and resources to make the right decisions. Being a mormon hleps me find real answers in the scriptures that help me everyday. It helps me know what values to teach my children, and most importatntly it has strengthened my own relationship with God and Jesus Christ and has increased my desires to live like God would want me to. I have put a great deal of thought into knowing if the Mormon church is true. I beleive that it is because it feels right, it makes sense, and because I don't know any way that I could live a happier or more fufilling life than by living by the teachings of Jesus Christ that the Mormon church is founded upon.

How I live my faith

I am an active participant in my local LDS church, as well as the community where I live. I enjoy working at the student run clinics down town, where homeless families can go for free medical care. I enjoy my job in the church. (I call it a job because everyone is asked to do something... but nobody gets paid) I am a Sunday School teacher for 10-11 year old youth. This year we are teaching the stories of the New Testament and I love the chance to study the parable of Jesus Christ before I teach. I love that when I teach I can see how the young people are beginning to understand that even though Christ was on the earth so long ago, his teachings help us now and are so beautiful and helpful! I also live my faith by visiting those people in our local church who I have been assigned to help. It has been a great way to focus on the needs of other families and to become good friends with people I wouldn't normally spend time with. It is one of the most fufilling things that I do.
