Hi I'm Brian

I'm a father of 3, a software engineer, and I love cycling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I develop software for a living. I'm fascinated by computer technology, especially automation techniques that just make life easier. I love outdoor recreation, especially cycling. I have run 7 marathons and various 5k and 10k events. I love to read books about how to improve myself and my life. I believe life is full of opportunities to better ourselves. I am a husband, and a father of 3 beautiful children. I love spending time with my family and teaching my children how to be happy.

Why I am a Mormon

To me, religion is like 2 individuals traveling together in a car. One says, "that way is north." The other points the opposite direction and says, "that way is north." There are some obvious conclusions to be drawn from this. First, they cannot both be right because they contradict each other. Second, it's possible that they are both wrong. Third, north is indeed one choice of direction and fourth, there is a way to find out which way north truly is. We all have the desire to choose our path towards where we think happiness is found. Knowing that for certain, leads to certain happiness as a result. Religion specifies that a true source of happiness exists and that it can be known through the choices we make in our lives. Because our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy, He has provided help for us to find the path which He knows will guide us to eternal happiness. I believe the mormon church is that path. I believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. He has provided the only way to lead us back to live with Heavenly Father for eternity. I believe that happiness is found by both knowing that you are on that path, and continually progressing towards accomplishing that goal. I'm a mormon because I have found it to be the same church that Jesus Christ built when He lived on the earth. It has been restored in our time for the benefit and sanctification of those who want to follow Him back to live with our Heavenly Father. I have experienced for myself a sense of peace as I have come to know that these things are true.

How I live my faith

I believe that everything we do is governed by principles. Every result we achieve comes through one or more principles according to our actions. I live my faith by learning about principles and using them to achieve the things I want. I attend church regularly because I learn about the teachings of the prophets throughout time. I learn about my purpose for being on the earth and about the things I can achieve if I learn to prepare myself to receive them. I spend time with my family, cultivating and nurturing healthy relationships, and learning how to serve and support them. I make myself available to give my time whenever possible to help someone when needs arise. I try to always be ready so that if I'm asked, I can be ready to make a difference in someone's life. I try to make the world a better place to live by improving conditions to the extent I am capable. I try to make a positive influence and assist others in their pursuits. I believe that if I try to make the world a better place, it will be a better place for me and my family to live.
