Hi I'm Brian

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Salt Lake City but have lived in Colorado for the last 30 years.

About Me

I have a severe hearing loss but have enjoyed a 30 year career in computer programming. I am currently working part time as a Panera Bread Cafe associate and construction site security guard. My hobbies include lots of reading, current events, blogging on FreeRepublic.com, and helping with my children and providing day care for two delightful grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I attended Utah State University. About halfway through it, I was invited by a friend to attend Sacrament Meeting. I started going regularly and developed tremendous gratitude for the Lord's kindness and a great sense of awe for the His Plan of Salvation and purpose for this world. I know it is a great privilege to obtain knowledge of the true Gospel and to be able to apply ourselves to His precepts and saving commands. It is my conviction that the Lord is truly merciful and generous God. Every struggle we make is never wasted but helps us in the long run, both in mortality and the world to come. No matter what circumstances we may find ourselves, we can completely trust in our Father in Heaven to exalt us and to bring us victorious in the end. I love all aspects of the Gospel. How every part fits and complements each other. Other churches teach the Trinitarian Doctrine (Nicene Creed) of an abstract entity consisting of three things having one substance. But I fully embrace the testimonies of Jesus Christ and the prophet Joseph Smith of a Godhead of three actual living beings: Heavenly Father who is Elohim the Supreme God, His literal Son Jesus Christ who identified Himself as Jehovah, and the Holy Ghost. The Trinitarian denies the actual personhood of Jesus Christ but the LDS understands that Jesus is truly the heir of the Father in all things as stated in the New Testament, that we will also be joint-heirs with Jesus. We believe that we existed as spirit children of God before the creation of the world. These things help us to better understand what transpired in the Garden of Eden, that Adam and Eve did the right thing in choosing to start the "Plan of Redemption." This opportunity for progression was made possible only because Jesus volunteered to redeem for our sins and permit us to have mortal experiences. All these things combine together to bring about God's purpose for us to choose His choicest blessings He desires to bestow on each of us.

How I live my faith

I am serving as Ward Employment Specialist and as part of the Sunday School Presidency. I have had many callings through the years, including finance clerk, membership, and numerous other opportunities for service.
