Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an adopted Texan who loves a good Bar-B-Q, Mountain Biking, Wake Boarding, and spending time with my beautiful wife and two children. I work for a national commercial developer and general contractor as an Assistant Project Manager and build luxury retail stores nationwide.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fourth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My Great Great Grandparents were baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New Zealand soon after arriving there from England. My family roots are deep in the church and I grew up being taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But even growing up in the church there comes a time in everyones lives when you have to find out for yourself what the truth is. For me the preparation before deciding to serve a two year mission for the church is when I had to find out for myself if the church was true as I did not want to waste two years of my life teaching people something that I did not know was true myself. I knew that I needed to know if The Book of Mormon was true since it was translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith as I knew God would not bring forth a true book of scripture through a false prophet. The Holy Ghost touched me through feelings of joy, peace, and love as I read The Book of Mormon, and through much prayer and reading of The Book of Mormon along with the Bible I received a strong impression that The Book of Mormon was the word of God and truly is another testament of Jesus Christ just as the Bible is a true book of scripture. An Analogy that really helped me to understand the need for another book of Scripture is a simple one. If you draw one dot on a piece of paper and that dot represents the Bible, then you draw a straight line through that dot, an infinite number of straight lines can be drawn through this single dot, these infinite straight lines represent all of the churches that are established with different teaching and doctrines. Now if you draw two dots on a piece of paper and one dot represents the Bible and the other dot represents The Book of Mormon how many straight lines can be drawn through both dots? Only 1! That one line that is drawn through both dots is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings within the church to serve others and all of them have enriched my life and strengthened my spirit and knowledge that Jesus Christ is our Savior to the world. My wife and I have served in the nursery with the 18 month old toddlers to 3 year olds and teaching them basic gospel principles. I have had the opportunity to work with the young men as well which was a great experience to help teach them as well as participate in weekly youth activities ranging from playing basketball, volleyball, wake boarding, to performing service projects throughout the community. Each of these callings have helped to make me a better individual through serving those around me.
