Hi I'm Dallan

I'm from the good ol' state of Utah! I love the outdoors... hiking, fishing, backpacking you name it and yup, I'm a Mormon too.

About Me

Well... I'm from Utah, and love the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, backpacking, snowboarding, snowmobiling, etc... I just love to be in the mountains somewhere lost from everything else. Personally I think there is nothing better than being over 10,000 feet above sea level, sitting next to a glowing campfire looking over a high alpine lake as it reflects the distant mountain peak. As you look out at the lake fish jump with excitement as they eat helpless bugs as the sun sets over the jagged tree tops. Or, I could be sitting over a 8 inch hole drilled through a foot of ice waiting in anticipation for the tip of my fishing pole to twitch with excitement while my toes turn into icicles. Or, I could be meandering through a forest watching the golden aspen leaves dance as the wind whispers through the trees. An elk bugals in the distance causing shivers to run down my spine as the sun gleams freckles of light to the forest floor. In other words it's the best just getting lost somewhere and enjoying the show nature has to offer you. But with all of that, I also enjoy time with family and friends. My family and I often spend Sundays together hoping it's our turn to win an intense game of Phase 10. Also I like taking a walk with my nieces and nephews to the local park to watch them swing like monkeys on the jungle gym. But of course there is work and school that bring you back to reality. I recently returned from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints

Why I am a Mormon

There is one scripture that stands out to me in the Book of Mormon that tells why I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is Helaman 5:30 "And it came to pass when they heard this voice, and beheld that it was not a voice of thunder, neither was it a voice of a great tumultuous noise, but behold, it was a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper, and it did pierce even to the very soul-" Everyone will go through hard times in life, and as we all look back we see certain spots we wish we could take back or just erase. But, the reality is we can't. And so as I was seeking for help from a loving Heavenly Father whom I believed to be there, Helaman 5:30 was my experience. From that experience I know that God lives and that he cares for me and that he wanted me to move forward and make some needed changes in my life that would take me in a path that was nearer to my Father in Heaven and his Son Jesus Christ. There is a promise in the Book of Moron found in the Introduction of the Book of Mormon that says: "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ is the Lords kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." From that experience and many more like it, I have come to know that Christ lives, and that He is my Savior, and he can make right the wrongs we have done in life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time, but with an end goal in mind. By that I mean, I go through the experiences each day has to offer while striving to do my very best. I know that by striving to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, applying Christ teachings into my life, I will receive the gift of eternal life. I have the great hope that one day I will return to the presence of my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ with my family. I just recently returned from serving a mission for my Savior Jesus Christ. Through a living Prophet of God, I was called to serve 2 years in California. I was able to study the scriptures and learn about who God and his Son, our Savior Jesus Christ are. One of the greatest experiences while serving my mission has been seeing others follow Jesus Christ's example by being baptized by someone that holds the authority that John the Baptist held when he baptized Jesus Christ. The happiness and peace that others felt by being baptized was amazing to see. I love to see other people happy. Also, while I was serving my mission, literally each moment was dedicated to the Lord. There weren't any days off, or really any time to myself. All my efforts and thoughts were focused to the Lord and His great work. I was constantly striving to share Jesus Christ's teachings with others. I don't regret making the choice to serve a mission one bit!
