Hi I'm David

I'm from Orlando, FL. I'm studying Human Development at college. I want to be a TV broadcaster. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town just outside Orlando, FL. I have been a member of the LDS church my whole life. I served a mission for the church in Hong Kong, China and I speak Cantonese. I have always loved sports (baseball, volleyball, gymnastics, football, and more). I enjoy watching movies. And I love my wife and baby girl. As a child I wanted to grow up to become a camera man for the movies. I made many movies with my friends. I got to college and applied to be in the film program, but was rejected. About that same time, I took a TV Broadcasting class and fell in love with broadcasting. Even though I'm studying Human Development in college right now, I want to become a camera operator or director for TV and broadcast sports. I am working at BYU-Broadcasting right now gaining experience to one day fulfill my dream.

Why I am a Mormon

Originally when I was young, I was a member of the Mormon faith because my parents were and I grew up as one. However, when I was about 13 or 14 years old, I wanted to know if the Mormon church was true. I did what everyone has to do to know if it is the true church, I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to God to ask if the book and church were both true and if they came from Him. After a couple of days of studying and praying, I got my answer by way of a feeling and a thought. The thought, "you know this is true and have always known it was true" came into my mind and at the same time I felt both joy and peace. Over the years, the more I have studied the gospel and the teachings of the Mormon church the more I know it is true and comes of God. I know that there is a God and that He, our Heavenly Father loves us. I know He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to this earth for each of us. Jesus Christ is my Savior and it is only through him that like anyone else, I will be able to live in heaven with God.

How I live my faith

At church, I have the responsibility along with my wife as the emergency preparation coordinator. We help to make sure the other members in our ward and area are prepared for emergencies, whether it is a natural disaster, economic disaster, or even a personal time of financial or other struggle. We help make sure everyone has an emergency 72-hour kit (food and supplies) as well as a food storage (typically a year supply of food). We help educate people as to what they need and can get. Many people do not have the money or means to get everything at once, so we help them come up with a plan to accumulate everything of a certain period of time that will fit in their means. We also help coordinate things like blood drives and other activities to help the community
