Hi I'm Matt

I'm a husband, father of 4 wonderful children, a municipal bond analyst, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a runner. I grew up in Oregon, but now I live in Texas. I'm married to the woman of my dreams. As much as I try to fight it, I cry during most movies. My wife says I'm a "sensy". As a father of 4 young children, I have become an expert diaper changer. I love my kids and try to spend time building forts and playing make-believe with them each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a big Mormon family where homemade bread, family night, and scripture study were commonplace. The story of Daniel and the lion's den was one of my favorite bible stories. My parents taught me to work hard, be honest, and to treat others with respect and compassion. They also taught me that God is our Father in Heaven, His son is our Savior, Jesus Christ, and that I could - and should - come to know these things for myself through study and prayer. Eventually, I did, and I still do.

How I live my faith

I start each day out on my knees in prayer and then in the scriptures. I'm not perfect by any means (my wife can testify to that), but I do try to live like Jesus did. I teach my kids the same bible stories that I listened to when I was a boy. I try to serve my brothers and sisters in the church by helping them when they need it most, and by encouraging others to do the same. I visit the homes of a few families each month and try to share an uplifting message. Others do the same for me. My faith informs every important decision I make. I know God lives. I know He loves me. I know He knows me. I want to live with Him again one day.
