Hi I'm Nolan

I am an avid outdoorsman in Colorado, a Husband to one, a Father to four, a Scientist to many...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born the 5th of 7 children and grew up in the small town of Sedalia, Colorado. Growing up in the country taught me the value of hard work, dedication to family, self reliance, and respect for my parents. I even learned how to drive a tractor before I learned how to drive a car. I learned to love the outdoors by camping, hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, and anything else that was an outdoor activity. This is where I feel at home and close to my Heavenly Father. I enjoyed learning at school and excelled at Math and Science. I went on to graduate college with a B.S. in Biochemistry and later with a Ph.D. in Chemistry. I now have the priveledge to work at a biotechnology company on an anti-cancer drug. I have always enjoyed the lifelong pursuit of knowlede through continual learning. One of my best learning opportunities came when I served an LDS mission to Madrid Spain. Here I learned about life, sacrifice, dedication, service to others, and how the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ make tremendous changes in the lives of others. This was a life lesson that no academic institution could teach that I cherish. I learned what it was like to truly love someone and eventually married the girl of my dreams, Ali. After 16 years together, 4 children , and numerous moves later I am still learning about love, respect, patience, and the true joy that my wife and family brings me...

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because it gives me hope, direction, and assurance. Hope comes from the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that through Him and His atonement, I can be forgiven of all the mistakes I make. Direction comes from the fact that I know why I am here on earth and where I want to go. It helps me provide answers to my children, my wife, and my friends to many difficult questions of today. Assurance comes from the fact that I know that I can be together forever with my family. We have been sealed together by the restored Priesthood power on the earth...a bond which can never be broken. I love being a Mormon because of who I am, who I strive to be, and what kind of a life I live. I am proud of my values, my faith, my testimony, and my family. I know that I am a child of God and that He listens to and answers my prayers. This direction that I have in my life is something that is felt within my heart and soul. Most of all, I am a Mormon because that is who I choose to be, who I want to be, and who I will always be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the small and simple things each and every day. I try to live my faith by being the kind of person that my Heavenly Father would want me to be. I try to make consistent efforts on the small things (i.e. prayers, read scriptures, spend quality family time together) that when built up over a lifetime of effort, will build a fortress of faith and family. I was once told that I was "too honest". That is a criticism that I was proud to receive and want to continue to live by. My faith is strong. I live my faith every day...
