Hi I'm Dee Dee

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to 1 daughter, 1 step daughter and 1 step son, and a grandmother of four amazing grandbabies. Although I have been a member of the church 36 years, I spent about 27 years "sleep-walking" in the world (I was inactive). I came back to church about 3 years ago and within a year I was sealed to my parents in the temple. I have been married to a wonderful man for 10 years and he is a recent convert of 7 months. I am excited to be sealed to him in the temple this winter! We are the only members of the church in our immediate family. My parents are members but they live 14 hours away. However, I know our children are watching us and I pray we are planting many seeds!

Why I am a Mormon

My baptism was December 11, 1975. After leaving home and getting married I became inactive. Over the next 27 years I made many bad choices and suffered the consequences. I smoked cigarettes, drink a lot of alcohol and there was other choices that were not so good! I became an alcoholic at the age of 36 yrs old and used until it became an absolute necessary. At the age of 40 I was bound to die … called upon my dad to give me a priesthood blessing. In the process of getting sober I used Heavenly Father as my Higher Power. By the time I was 4 years sober I started studying scriptures again! Through scripture study, humble prayer, working the steps of AA, recognizing and admitting my shortcomings, making many amends and lot of repenting, I found my way back to the church. I feel my most incredible "missionary" work has been to be an example to my husband!

How I live my faith

Magnifying my callings has been exactly what I need! My first calling was as a Visiting Teacher Supervisor. Then I was called to be a Ward Missionary. Right now is my favorite of all... my husband and I have been called to teach Gospel Principles! I know, without a doubt, this has been a calling from our Heavenly Father! As we study our lessons and prepare for Sunday's class, I am able to teach my husband. Then by the power of the Holy Ghost, we walk into class together and teach our new converts and investigators with lots of compassion and love! I believe our knowledge and experiences are tools which Heaven Father uses to touch others!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Dee Dee
To me, a testimony is to bare witness of what I know to be the truth of the gospel in my heart. A testimony is almost like having the knowledge of truths "stamped" or "burned" into my bosom! The church is the exact same as it was when Jesus Christ established it on this earth. Joseph Smith is a prophet. He was chose to restore the church in this dispensation. We have a living prophet on the earth today, Thomas S Monson, who was chosen by Heavenly Father, to lead and guide in these latter days. Show more Show less
