Hi I'm Bekah

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, play sports and to hang out with friends. I have a BA in Humanities and political science minor. I enjoy volunteering in local or federal campaigns as well as traveling whenever I have the time (or money!). My favorite place so far has been England. The history there is amazing. You can practically breathe it in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon. But as I struggled and sought my own answers I kept coming back to it. I began to realize that I have always felt really good at church. Also, it was one of the very few places that encouraged me to ask questions and to search for answers. I love the passage at the end of Moroni in the Book of Mormon that encourages us to ask God if these things are true. No one has to rely on the word of a man. We can ask our Father in Heaven what is true. As I have asked, I have felt peace come over me. My heart and mind finally feel calm and no longer wage war against each other. I resisted these feelings for a long time, as I was always the doubting Thomas. I used to blame my feelings on the air conditioning or the warm chapel or simply chuck it up to an emotional story that touched me and not believe it was the Spirit that spoke to me. How I finally came to have a testimony is very sacred and precious to me. I was in a crisis of faith, and I was so tired of wondering and doubting. I wanted the truth no matter the cost to me or even my family. I didn't care whether the truth meant mormon, methodist or catholic. Then one day, after so much searching, i felt it. i can't describe it. I just knew......

How I live my faith

I wish i could say i live it perfectly. i try but i often fall short. But that's what makes God's Plan of Happiness so perfect. We are saved after all we can do. He makes up the difference. I just have to keep trying and not give up. I try to be honest with myself so that i can recognize the weak areas i needed to work on (easier said than done as they are many!). I think its important to always keep learning and praying. Also, to never underestimate the importance of learning (and relearning) and living the fundamental principles of the gospel. I currently work in the primary with the children. They are an amazing inspiration to me. They are so innocent and sweet. I can see why God tells us to be like the little children. They love so unconditionally.
