Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Spencer. I am from Salt Lake City, Utah. I am going to college studying International Relations. I enjoy hiking, camping, and fishing. I love music, I love to watch movies, I love spending time with friends and family. And I am mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members. My grandparents are members. My great-grandparents are members. But I too had to come to know for myself. There were many times throughout my life when I felt the spirit and I knew the gospel was true. The biggest experience in my life was my mission. I had a testimony before I started, but throughout my entire mission I came to know so much more that this is true. As I would teach of Joseph Smith and the Restoration I would feel a peace so strong that I could not deny it. As I would read his words and teachings to see his life as a prophet what he stood for I came to love and admire the Prophet Joseph a lot. I'm so grateful for the knowledge of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Only the Restored Gospel teaches us plainly concerning Jesus Christ and what we need to do to receive all the blessings of the Atonement. He is the Savior, the Son of God.

How I live my faith

Our church is definitely an active church. We believe a lot in "doing." As I strive to be better by following our Savior and His example. As we keep the commandments, as we look to love our neighbors and be good people we are showing Heavenly Father we love Him.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Spencer
Joseph Smith Jr, was a young man living in the eastern United States in the early 1800's. At the age of 14 he had questions about religion. He wanted to know why there were so many churches, and each had its own different doctrine. He believed in the Bible, his parents had taught him since his youth. At the age of 14 he read a passage of scripture in the book of James chapter 1 verse 5 which told him if he had any doubts or questions he needed to ask God. Joseph wanted to know which church he should join. So he felt he needed to ask God which church was His. He went to a grove close to his house and decided to pray. As he prayed God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph to answer his question. Jesus said none of the churches were true. After that Joseph continued to be instructed from heavenly messengers who prepared him to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. He was a prophet. A man like Abraham, Moses, Isaiah and all the others in the Bible. Show more Show less
