Hi I'm Ally.

I'm the wife of a medical student. I'm a new mom, trying to learn the ropes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I met my husband in college while we were both working on our undergrad. He grew up on a working cattle ranch in a tiny small town, and I grew up in the suburbs of a big city, so we were an unlikely couple but we fell in love! We were married in an LDS temple in 2008 and have been extremely happy as we strive to keep strong faith central to our relationship. I felt Heavenly Father speak to my heart that building a family is the most important thing I should be doing right now. I am now the mom to a cute little one year old, and I'm still trying to learn the ropes of motherhood but I couldn't be happier. Being a mother has been a great adventure- more challenging and more rewarding than I ever could've imagined. My husband is in medical school now, so things are a little crazy but we are having a great time. I also love reading, music of all kinds, running, cooking, blogging and painting. I am taking some online university courses and one day hope to obtain a graduate degree. Life is fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and have fond memories of attending church as a little kid. The church was an anchor to me during my teenage years. But I really didn't become "converted" until I became an adult. In fact, I am still in the process of building a strong testimony! It is a never-ending process, but one that strengthens you as you go. If I were to boil my testimony down to its most basic and simple terms, I would tell you that I know that living the gospel of Jesus Christ makes you happy. Obedience to the principles of the gospel will lend stability to this crazy life. Prayer and scripture study will answer any questions you have, and some you never even knew you had. Being a Mormon gives me the peace I so desperately want and need. As I have followed this path and genuinely desired truth, I have found it. I have found happiness and meaning in life. And I have found a testimony that Jesus Christ knows me and loves me, and that there is a plan in place to ensure I can find happiness with my family for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by implementing the principles I've been taught into my marriage and my parenting. The Church teaches how important family relationships are and how to enrich them in your daily life. I am grateful for the guidance and good advice. I also live my faith by teaching a class of young children each Sunday. We talk about Heavenly Father and Jesus- and we have a great time while doing it. It is so important for everyone- even little kids- to know how much Heavenly Father loves them. I have taught other classes in the Church, but this is my first time teaching kids instead of adults. I am finding that I learn a lot from the simple faith and joyful attitudes of the children I teach. I am glad to have this experience teaching young children, because I knew I will use it in my adventures as a mom. I want my children to grow up knowing their Heavenly Father and feeling His love.
