Hi I'm Jason Warnecke

I'm a Mormon. Raised in Littleton CO. Attended a military high school. Joined the church at 19.

About Me

I grew up in a pretty non religious family. My mom believed in God but you couldn't pay her to go to a church. When I was 15 I was shipped off to military school because I didn't get along with my stepfather. I left there at 17 when my dad got cancer and needed help. As it got worst I felt like I should pray or something so went to the nearest church to our place which happened to be an LDS church. About 2 months later I was baptized. However when my father died I went to a dark place and turned from the church. Drank a lot and got to the point where no one wanted to be anywhere near me. Flunked out of college. I eventually realized I couldn't keep going as I was and turned back to the church. Now I've been sober for nearly 2 years and working on getting back into school. I can honestly say I have the church and the friends I've made in it for helping me turn my life back around.

Why I am a Mormon

What attracted me at first was that it teaches new stuff. Never bought into that the lord didn't talk to us anymore cause he already taught us everything he needed. The idea of a church lead by a prophet that receives revelations from God to help us in this day and age intrigued me. As time progressed and I learned more I realized that this was right for me. Things about the bible that hadn't made sense to me in the past were starting to make sense with the help of the Book of Mormon and the missionary lessons. As I've study and learned more over the last couple of years that this is true. That there is no way Joseph Smith could have made all this up. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for us. That through the church I can rejoin him and be with those I love forever.

How I live my faith

I try and spend as much time with the church as possible. Going to activities and spending time with friends I've made within it. Helps to keep me strong and avoid temptations. Also read my scriptures every night for about an hour. Being involved with the various things that the church has let me has blessed me greatly in my life.
