Hi I'm Sandra

I grew up an intercity kid-Dallas. I am a Mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm grew up an intercity kid and loved knowing where I stood. My family moved to California for a bit and that is where I finished High School. My life seemed on hold till I went to college. I had a limited abilities in Spanish. In college I realized with my very Hispanic last name teachers and peers expected me to already know Spanish. So, learning it was difficult, expected, and necessary. I learned so much and got to live in Mexico City for a few months doing an internship not to learn Spanish but to teach classes in Spanish to adults. Life has been so good to me that I ended up teaching bilingual Kindergarten for 5 years before I was married and had a child of my own to teach. Now, my family is my life! I love them and people these days have no idea that I didn't always speak Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents brought me up in the Mormon church. But, I have always been so independent that I wasn't going to take their word for it on anything. I am so grateful that they taught me from an early age to pray and know that I am a child of God. I remember being 5 years old and scared in kindergarten. I put my head down on my desk and prayed. The basics that my parents taught me have helped me to learn for myself to be a Mormon. But, most of all to be a follower of Christ.

How I live my faith

Today I live my faith in much the same way. I pray. I go to church and I read my scriptures. I also get to work with some of the 4 yr old children at church. I get to teach them the basics about prayer, and choosing the right. Teaching my young daughter is also a wonderful blessing that helps me realize how important it is to live the faith and not just talk about it. We read, pray, and go to church together.
