Hi I'm Rod

I am a native Californian. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I now live in the Sierra Foothills. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am the father of three wonderful children who are currently grown and out of the house. I love living in the Sierra Foothills. I enjoy the mountains - especially skiing up in the Tahoe area. I enjoy golfing with friends. I enjoy hiking and enjoying & being in God's beautiful creations.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a home which embraced the principles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). I was raised being taught these principles but failed to gain my own testimony of the Gospel & principles of Christ's Church here upon the earth. Therefore, I went through a period of inactivity from the Church. After being married, the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited my wife one afternoon while I was at work. She had the desire to hear their message and we started having them teach us. I quickly found that deep down I still embraced the principles they were teaching and at this time received my own testimony that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, taught by these missionaries, was true. I was re-activated and was able to baptize my wife. We were then able to be sealed as an Eternal Family on our third anniversary. I have gained a strong testimony of Church principles as I continue to study and live by those principles in my life. I am touched by receiving inspiring messages each Sunday and especially from our Apostles in our General Conferences twice a year. I have gained a stronger testimony as I give talks myself and study deeply specific principles that have been assigned to me. I have a strong testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's restored church here upon the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith saw and spoke to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and received and translated the Book of Mormon, another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know that we have living prophets today upon the earth that lead and guide us to avoid and withstand the temptations of satan.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving others in my calling in Church. I help out about twice a month at our church building helping prepare to hand out food to those in need. I also help once a week in our Stake Family History Center, helping people find their ancestors. My wife and I have recently been called to serve the Lord as Church and Family History Missionaries. I enjoy attending a weekly Family Home Evening group and associating with others who share my common religious beliefs. My testimony is strengthened as I hear others share how they live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how their hearts have been touched by religious experiences. I also enjoy sharing my testimony with this group. In my church calling I have the opportunity to share my testimony as I am speaking in a ward or two every month.
