Hi I'm Mark

I grew up in the suburbs. I am now a forester and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

My wife and I moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 1976. We were self employed as foresters, tree planters, timber cruisers and fire fighters. The community was remote and self reliant, almost the frontier. Over the years we have lived in the rain forest, on the east and west coasts, in the big city and homesteaded a country shack. We have been blessed with wonderful children, great parants and siblings and an incredible diverse network of friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife's search for the Holy Spirit led her to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My reluctance to join an organized religion kept me away, but the good people of the local ward and her incredible spirit where role models of how life could be led. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to ask if it were a true book. The answer that it is true impressed me so much that I committed to change my life and live according to the precepts of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Before I became a member what impressed me most about church members was the way they conducted their daily lives. Normal folks with the usual wear and tear, heartache and hardship, joy and good times. But they had something different based upon the understanding of what I came to learn was their testimony, that a belief in Jesus Christ leads to a committment to keeping his commandments, which allows one to forsake the distractions of sin. Faith can be demonstrated every day as disciples of Jesus Christ.
