Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in Milwaukee WI. I've traveled to some amazing places in the world and learned a lot. I study Zoology. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family of all girls. Both of my parent,s converted to the church when they were young and have raised myself and my sisters in the Church. I am a Junior in college studying Zoology/Wildlife. I have recently spent a year abroad in Birmingham, England where I not only learned a lot about myself, but about others in this world as well. During my time abroad I traveled to multiple countries and connected with all sorts of people. I have found that by dispelling ignorance we dispel hate. I enjoy connecting with all sorts of different people from different backgrounds. As a guitar player and singer, I love music. I consider myself an ambitious 20 year old who is ready to continue moving forward in life.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents converted when they were in their early twenties. They had always raised me to think for myself, because in the end, it was always going to be my decision on whether I was going to be Mormon or not. By pointing me in the right direction, my parents raised me to live according to the principles of the gospel without forcing Mormonism down my throat. I am thankful every day for this, because had I been raised any other way, I'm not sure I would have found the gospel for myself. It wasn't until I was about sixteen or seventeen that I had begun searching for my own testimony, and stopped hanging off of my parents testimonies. My biggest fear was that I wasn't going to 'do life right'. All I wanted was a confirmation that I was doing the right things with my life. Through a simple prayer I was able to know the truth of this gospel. It was a kind of 'duh Sam' moment, where I knew I was in the right place.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the principles of the gospel and simply being me. I know that there are a lot of misconceptions about Mormonism, and I've found that by being myself and accepting others for who they are, people have accepted me and my lifestyle. It never ceases to amaze me how people can tell that there is something a little different about me, before I ever tell them that I am a Mormon. I truly believe that this phenomenon is the light of Christ that I know dwells within all of us. I share my beliefs with whoever wants to listen. I have never thought a missionary tag is required to share the gospel. I am very open to other religions. After all, how can I expect someone to accept my beliefs If I don't accept theirs? I have a genuine love for people, and support the principle of personal choice. Just because we don't live the same way doesn't mean we can't get along. I have been a part of many different congregations all around the world and studied many different religions. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same no matter where you go. The same loving spirit has followed me wherever I have gone in my life. I choose to live the principles and ordinances of this gospel because I know of it's truth, and not hing has brought more joy to my life.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Sam
Joseph Smith was a boy who had a question a lot of us have at one point or another in our lives. At 14 he asked our Heavenly Father what church was the right one, and which he should join. Joseph saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, who answered that none of the churches were correct, thus the beginning of the Restoration of the gospel. He was prepared and guided by God to bring forth the fullness of this Gospel. He was a modern day prophet who spoke with God and Christ like Moses and Isaiah did in biblical times. Show more Show less
