Hi I'm Laura

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a wife & mother. Now that I am, it's better than I'd dreamed. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. My parents were sealed in the temple, so I had the privilege of growing up in the LDS faith & being taught the truthfulness of the gospel. As the minority in school growing up, it could be hard, but I also felt that it strengthened me as a person & in my testimony. I had to really stand up for what I believed in because people were always watching. After graduating High School, I attended Ricks College, which then was changed to BYU-Idaho. I made many friends & enjoyed my time there, but after graduation came home to Kentucky for a short time before moving to the west again. This time it was to the Salt Lake Valley. I attended an Institute ward in which I met my husband. The day we were sealed in the holy temple was such an amazing, spiritual day. He comes from a family with Tongan background. I love to learn more about the culture from him & his family. I love to make new friends & do service. I love my family & am a bit of a home-body. My family comes first & I am living a life long dream of being a wife & mother. My husband & I have 3 beautiful children--a daughter & two sons. I love to do crafts, read, & play with my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that the teachings of the church are true. Yes, I was born into a family who already had the gospel, but I still had to gain my own testimony. As I grew up in the church, each Family Home Evening lesson, each Sunday School lesson, & each hymn that was sung helped to invite the Holy Spirit into my life to teach me & convert me in my own way. I can't say I've had that "A-ha!" moment when I all of a sudden knew it to be true, but I think I've always felt that it was. I knew in my heart & that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Recently I was released as a counselor in our Primary Presidency. I loved working in Primary & teaching the basic gospel principles to the children. I am now a teacher in our Relief Society. I am not the most eloquent with my words, but through the spirit, I do my best to relay the teachings that Heavenly Father would want me to share. Outside of church, I love to share the gospel. At times it can be intimidating, & sometimes it is hard to find the right words, but by living the gospel & being a good example of Christ, I do my best to share the gospel & the love of the Savior with others I come in contact with. My favorite way to live the gospel is in my own home. I am not the world's best mom or Mother of the year, but I do feel my husband & I are doing our best to teach the gospel to our children & building a foundation for their testimonies to grow on.
